What wheels do you guys have?

Round ones that roll xD that's about as far as my knowledge goes so far in this game ;) I'm going on the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" policy so not touching any car settings as I'll just break something xD until I actually sit down and study it a bit.... maybe.... :p

lol yeah, kinda wish I didnt start messing with it now. I have scoured the iracing forum but all the settings posts are like years old :confused::confused:

I have the Logitech Driving Force GT wheel if anyone wants to share there settings pretty please :D

LOL did you mean steering wheel settings? I thought you meant like in-game tyre settings, psi, camber etc etc xD

I have the Thrustmaster Ferrari GT Experience. no frills except rumble that doesn't work... lol. does the job but would like something a bit better with FFB :) but it seems like my wheel has gone up in price a bit :p

LOL I thought your response was a bit weird

Im deffo gonna upgrade my wheel but I want to get a racing cockpit first :D

haha yea :p they need to do a "here's one we made earlier" blue peter racing cockpit :p made from pipe cleaners and washing up liquid bottles :p but looks pimping haha!

maybe when I move house I'll buy the corner section of an old car, cut it down to the driver seat/dash and paint it over and have that in my game room to be xD

I have seen some crazy DIY cockpits on http://insidesimracing.tv/forums/forum/12-sim-racing-rigs-cockpit/ just wish I had the ability to do one myself

I've got a T500 with the GT and F1 rims plus the TH8 shifter.

I use default Thrustmaster and default iRacing settings.

I think I will go back to default again tbh, dont know why I started messing with it in the first place!

It's what you should use, better ffb. You'll need to turn up the overall ffb level with it enabled though.

Quick question what is the "Use linear mode" in the iracing settings for?

what's it in relation to? just stabbing in the dark but guess it's to do with control input? assume linear mode would be a 1:1 action to reaction so a straight line graph

where as you could probably set it up so it's more of an exponential e.g. the further the wheel is turned the bigger the output per degree of turn. so it would be very smooth with very little direction change moving around the central point of the wheel, but the moving the wheel further around it's rotation would see an even increasing effect in direction. so around the top point may have a 1:0.5 ratio so for a degree the wheel has turned the steering output is half that, move it round a bit more at it becomes a 1:1 ratio, and then moving the wheel further into the turn will see the output over take the input 1:2 so around the limits of the wheel a tiny movement would have a much bigger effect. ;)

I hope people can understand that... haha! and also hope it's actually in relation to what you were asking about.... could be something completely different... haha!

edit: looks like I may have been way off xD

The SR is a "Corners Per Incident" (or CPI) count basically, where for Rookie you look at less corners than for D-Class, which is less than C-Class etc. So A-Class drivers have both a harsher modifier to get from CPI to the SR number but also have to maintain that level over more driving.

So if you do 10 corners, and get 4 incidents then that both adds 4 incidents to your total but also knocks 10 corners out of the 'back' of the queue. Now if those 10 corners already had 4 incidents you'd see limited/no change to SR, if they had 8 incidents then your SR would improve even though you got incidents or if they had 0 incidents then you're SR would go down. simples ¬_¬ :p

I actually get it now, so barmy if your race last night was 100 corners and u got 11 incidents, it kicks of 100 corners at the back end, and if those 100 kicked off corners were 0 incidents you will take a bigger Sr hit than if those 100 kicked corners had say 10incidents!

I think that's right?

So I've won two races at Brands in the lower splits but got into a higher SoF race just now was in 3rd after a decent start and the guy in 4th just turns me round. I went slightly wide so left him plenty of room and was going to let him go around me in the next corner but oh no he just drove straight into me.

I don't get it really. My aim is to get to 2k irating on road this season so I can start driving in the higher splits more often but this guy had 3.5k irating and could even manage to anticipate the slower pace of cars whilst running in traffic.

SR baffles me completely.

Race last night, 4 inc, +0.06 SR

Race tonight, 11 inc, -0.57

There's one bit I didn't mention in that bit about SR, and that's the effect of going over a boundary where there've implemented a 'jump' so that you don't flip-flop over a boundary.

So if you've got an SR of 2.99 and the race would've given you +0.02 instead of going to 3.01 they add 0.4 to it so you go to 3.41. But it also works the other way, so say you're on 3.16 and in a race you get -0.17 effectively, then they add on the 0.4 and you get -0.57.

So the 11 incs were only really worth -0.17, it's the boundary thing that caused it to look so high.
