About to start an MX5 race at 11am at Summit Raceway. I qualified with a 1.27.6 which I thought was OK but in my session someone did a 1.25.0

Really have to take care with the Mazda.....wish me luck :o

I've been driving the Radical for the past couple of seasons but I'm looking for a 2nd series to run in.

From reading previous posts it appears that the GT3 is a very popular series and one in which I've already purchased a couple of the cars.

I'm not the quickest so just wondering if these races tend to split or is it everyone thrown into one race?

Peak time yesterday there were 9 splits with 27 drivers!

Thanks for the tips on the c spec, I'm finally getting it now. My problem was applying too much brake pressure initially then letting off too abruptly. It's a fun car once you get used to the quirks.

I'm in the GT3 series.

Ran a few laps at Mosport in preparation for next week. 1:17.5 was my best in the Z4.

Might do a couple of races at WG before the end of the three day weekend.

First race at Mosport this week and I managed my first proper win in this seasons GT3 series.

Qualified 2nd and was leading by the start of lap two. The guy behind stayed within 0.5 of a second for about 5 laps and then I assume he came together with someone else. As the next 3 places were showing as 9 seconds behind. Then it was just a case of being consistent and keeping out of the way of back markers, all of which were very courteous.

I was also surprised that I'm only 2 seconds slower than the fastest drivers in race trim, normally I'm nearer 4 seconds off. I suppose they'll get faster as the week goes on.

Raced in the BSR GT3 sprint cup at the glenn last night. Massively fun yet again with lots of close racing. Finish 13th race 1 and 3rd race 2. I would highly recommend racing in a private league its great fun racing in a proper championship with the same people each week. Broadcasts are below:

I'd like to race in a private league, but I can't commit to being available all the time, so I'm stuck racing with the iRacing public. Which is mostly very good and much better than any other online racing game's public servers.

Managed to get my first win earlier, only my 2nd race too and im not really the fastest or the most consistent but managed to hold it all together. Being 1 of 2 drivers who qualified helped, in yesterdays attempt i got spun at T1 (was my fault tbh, got the warning i had someone on my right, and i knew cos i'd closed them down, but they were a decent bit over from me. What i didnt know was we were 3 wide and someone was between us, so when i started to turn in knowing the guy wasnt there, someone else was :( fortunately i seemed to be the only one shafted by it) so i figured it might just be easier at the front, if its a clean T1 then i'll be fine and im not interested in fighting for a position i'll just let people through, but managed to keep a +0.6 gap during the first lap and then it stayed 1.0-1.8 back n forth for the rest until he slipped up at T2 on the last lap taking the pressure off me.

Really pleased that i didnt throw it off somewhere, i think had he got a little closer then it could have thrown me a little and screw up somewhere. I tend to make a small mistake then get all befuddled and lose a chunk of time till i compose myself. My fastest vs slowest flying laps were only 0.5sec apart, which is very unlike me :D

Havent raced competitively in a long time, 2-3yrs i'd imagine, unless you count a few OCUK Race07 events we did early last year as a bit of fun. Still not particularly comfortable around others, and i dont think it helps when my virtual mirror shows them reasonably close, but in the side mirror they basically fill the thing, and im not entirely sure my FOV is ideal cos theres been times when ive got right behind someone and felt i was right on their bumper, yet in replays theres half - 2/3rds a cars gap there.

Could someone tell me how the seeding is done for the splits? Cos from what i can tell, i keep getting put in high splits given im a Rookie (3/8 today, 2/7 yesterday, and the next rookie is 2 splits below me). Yesterday i didnt even qualify, yet end up in the 2nd split.
Judging by the iRating of others, they're putting me in at around 1400-1500, so does that mean thats along the lines of what my hidden iRating is likely to be at when that race was split?

Congrats on the win, same to barmy :)

I do the same with losing rhythm, if I make just a small mistake it can make a noticeably impact on my laptimes for a fair while before I get myself sorted out.

With the iRating/splits, as a rookie you will start with an iRating of 1600 but it's 'hidden' (iirc you can view source of the results page if you really must know), and the splits are sorted purely by iRating hence you being put around cars of that level.

It starts at 1600!? That seems optimistic for a rookie you've got absolutely zero knowledge of their ability and they're new to the sim. Ive been racing against B-C class drivers, even A class (1425) and the highest in that race was 1545, and yet as a n00b im considered (more than) their equal? mental. I figured id be throw in with other noobs for a while who were learning the ropes.

Seems to me, if Barmy is only at that starting point, the starting point is too high. Fair enough its harsh to start at say 0 and race against established bad/poor drivers, but 1600 seems optimistic to say the least. From my understanding, my race score is significantly based on who im racing against, so a meh finish in a strong race might be the same as a win against a meh field.

Oh well. If it puts me in an experienced field, and poorer experienced drivers are moved into lower splits, thats to my advantage i guess, im just a little surprised they feel comfortable putting newbies in with capable experienced drivers from the offset and potentially causing problems in their races.

probably starts that high so when the noobs (like myself) screw up but eventually get better... it's not too far to climb back up :p so far mine has just reduced (think around 1200-1100 ish for oval..... still rookie on road ;) )

I obviously dont know the system all that well yet, but when someone im racing against has an 3.14 Class A license, with an iR of 1425, it seems a little bit baffling.
Is it perhaps their SR rating being good, while their pace and there-for iR being slower, the reason they've got a decent license and class rating?

Oh, i also got someones friend request, doesnt seem to accept in firefox, the request just stays there even after ive told it to accept, and in Opera its fine, but in FF its still awaiting approval and that green notification is flashing away still :(

jeeze, even logging out and back in, its pestering me! odd, went to myRacers and then it stopped and was correct.

just jumped in the mazda roadster and pulled a 1.57 ok for 2nd lap but then kept spinning out xD so came out to switch to the cup [and the iracing website has decided to break :\ anyone elses screwed up? :p]

edit: ok it's fixed now :p

That's the best online racing experience I've ever had.

20 out of 24 laps within 0.5 seconds of the guy in front. Passed him 3 times at Moss Corner, but I think he was running less wing than me and caught and passed me every time along the back straight. All the time the guys behind were inching closer as we lost time racing.

Then a back marker cost me a second or so, not intentionally, and the chasing pack eventually got passed me on the back straight again.

All through the race it was very close but very clean and fair racing.

Started 8th and finished 6th.

Superb.

Wished I'd saved the replay now.

There needs to be an auto-save function. Although at 200mb for a 10 lap field of 11 its probably for the best :D
Maybe an option to enable a reminder for when you hit the Quit button.

Also, ive seen theres a 'report incident' option, so you'd have to assume they save a replay at their end to allow them to inspect any claims. Wouldnt harm them to make the file available for 24h (however long they keep them/allow protests to be submitted) so you could download it.
