I was looking forward to doing my first season in the Grand Touring Cup but it seems that the have replaced the MX5 with the solstice. What's weird is that is still says MX5 in the series description.

The Mazda now as its own series Mike. Finally, no longer will the Jetta's hold me up and The slowtice get in the way.

Its at C class. I'm sure there was mention of the Roaster going into one of the lower class series. Not sure if its happened.

The new MAZDA advanced Mx5 cup as a great schedule, shame I don't have half the tracks. But will be racing the ones I do. Anyone need help with the MX5 Holla, love the little car and the new build as got it back to being one of the most realistic cars on the service.

The MX5 now handles reasonably realistic?
Might take a look at that, im torn between Adv-MX5, Spec Ford and Skippy.

What im really looking for is something that doesnt complicate focusing on the GT3 series. I just want something that handles nice, and doesnt need me to re-adjust to its quirks when i jump into it from the Z4.
Last season the Skippy, as fun as it was on its own, became a nightmare when i wasnt putting the time into it each week, because my focus was with the GT3 series. It might have helped if i liked the last 2 venues i did (Summit Full & COTA GP).

In a perfect world, i'd do a BTCC/WTCC type series, something between the V8 Supercars and the MX5. I havent properly tried the CTS-V, but it might not be too far off, and i bet the Jetta would be quite nice tbh, but im not paying for it. I'd pay for the Ford GT or something, but not for something uninspiring when i cant try before i buy.

I need to spend a few hours trying each of the other cars, although it doesnt help im miles off the pace in GT3 @ Sebring (2.7sec off a 1:59.0 baseline).

That would give you a time of 2:01.7, which would have been a very competitive time in the 2nd split I was in at 9pm.

Can't login now.

yeah, same. how many times?? Its certainly been 3 times since (and incl) the actual update.

I was going to look and see what the cut-off was for the 2nd split, but unless theres about 80ppl+ im usually getting in the top split, which is nice, but its also an ego killer :D Puts your feet firmly on the ground. I think my Brands Hatch win was an 11pm win, top split (had one of the ISRTV guys ?Shawn? and EmptyBox in there) but even that was only a ~2400 rated field, not like the Wed/Thurs 9PM ones.

I don't worry too much about my out right speed. I'm never going to be super quick, so
I just try to be consistent and clean. Worked tonight, started 16th and finished 8th or 9th.

Oh ok, just need to get my SR up to 4.00 then. It's already 3.87 so shouldn't take long. Is the standard set up for the MX5 fine or should I look for a custom one?

I'm currently D class (2.68) trying to work up so I can compete in the GT3 series eventually. Is it right that this week there are absolutely no road races that I can do that will improve my rating? The only ones are oval and require car/track purchases.

There are a few series that you can do for free this week:
  • Ford Spec Racer at Laguna Seca
  • Global Challenge Fixed at summit point
  • Grand touring cup at Charlotte road

I noticed this, too, it's not something I've seen before. Does anyone know why this is, I presume I've missed something?
You have to run a series at your current license level in order for it to count towards you mrp. I made this mistake the season before last as I had done loads of skippy races when I had a C license and just assumed they'd count towards my mrp. Fast forwards to the promotion date and I was a bit confused as t why I hadn't been promoted :(

Hmmm, thanks, but I'm still confused. I'm currently class C and I thought that the Skippy was a class C series. In the series list, I'm seeing the following:
Eligible Series -> Counts Towards Promotion (MPR) -> Road -> No matching series.

Edit - It seems that there's a bug, I'm not going mad! - http://members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/list/3266905.page

Skippy is class D.

Ah I see, you're selecting from the dropdown. Ignore that bit and check out the series on the Series->Current Season, then select class C. I don't think the dropdown bit is working correctly.

Thanks, got it now. As you say, the drop-down box is knackered, see my edit above.

wahoo Division 2 now!
*cough* Division 7 in oval *cough*
Goals for this season is to get in div 4 in oval
get over 3000 IRating in road
Get my B licence in Oval

What series' are people doing? I'll do the Spec Ford again as it was my favourite last time out, GT3 is always fun. Don't fancy the MX5 though, never liked it in rookie.

After doing a bit more practice I think I'll be doing the GT3 in the RUF, slowly getting back up to speed in it, best lap is only 2:01.8 but my optimal is down at 2:00.0xx at the moment, just need to get some cleaner laps/sectors strung together.

Just got a shiny upgrade as well, I was (still am technically) running an old Core2Duo E8400 at 4.16GHz, but at those clocks if it gets too hot it has a tendency to crash, after dropping the clocks to 3.7GHz which are the 'summer' settings I was getting sub-50fps at points around Sebring so finally caved to an upgrade :p

Not spent all that much but now got a Pentium 'anniversary edition'(/K) and motherboard/8Gb ram ready to chuck in, so should get around 4.5GHz+ still only dual core but bit higher clocks and far far far better core should give a nice improvement :D
