iRacing

After previously running an interest check, I am please to announce a new iRacing league for rookies and experienced racers. After consulting with Matthew Dalton who runs the UK&I section, he is pleased to have a new league for new racers and willl be making our iRacing thread a sticky so its easy for all to find.

Information from our iRacing thread is below, I hope to see a few of you join us and all our Tech guidance can be found via the iRacing website or BOSRA website.

Happy new year all.

Welcome to the British Online Sim Racing Association, the new home for new and rookie UK&I iRacing members who want to improve their race craft.

We are looking for new members who wish to be part of a league community and race with like minded people. BOSRA is run by an admin team with previous league experience, mainly on PlayStation and Gran Turismo and after discussions with Matthew Dalton, we are now ready to start accepting applications ready for our first Mazda MX5 event.

Details of our first event will be available very soon and I hope that new and existing iRacing members will join us for some great racing.

Our website is available for all our members to use and contribute to the league. Whilst still in its infancy, I will be working on the website to give all member the very best league experience.

All our events, as discussed in a previous thread will run on Tuesdays. I will also be looking for a second admin member to assist when I work shifts to host the race nights. PM me if you would like to be a part of the admin team.

I am just awaiting domain processing to be complete, you can find us at http://bosra.co.uk or http://bosra.enjin.com until the domain is set up.

If you have any questions then please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kris

ive just signed up im really enjoying the mx5 at the moment although i do want to get in and stay in the gt3 at some point
i miss online league racing

I thought I'd write a small update since I have now settled in with my CSP V2's.

Ive raced 9 times in the RUF Cup since switching and all but one has been a podium (forgot to change from Qual fuel and had to pit while in the lead! Finished 4th still)

I am a little faster this season, but I think that's down the experience with the car now, what I have noticed above all else is consistency is massively better. So much so that my average incidents per race is down to only 1 from 5 the previous seasons. I am finding I have way more confidence in my braking and I can hit my markers lap after lap. In my next race I should hopefully hit 3k irating.

On reflection I wish I had made the jump sooner, they've been worth every penny so far.

Oh, and just finished painting this:

maybe a silly question to ask but if i qualify for a race does that stand for the event for that week or just the 1 race?

thanks in advance

I said it last season, I'll say it again. I hate Mosport.

I've never had a good race there. It invariably turns in to a train of cars ~1 second apart and if you lose the draft you're dead. One last chance to outscore my week's best 128 points in the RUF Cup, but I'm not holding out much hope.

In lasts nights SOF race I was running P13 on lap 4 when I saw a car flipping and bouncing on the approach to T1. I lost sight of it momentarily as I was under the wing of the car in front of me when he suddenly jinked left. The out of control car appeared in front of me and bounced up in the air. I didn't have much time to react so I reactively hit the brakes and managed to squeeze underneath the flipping car with a 0x netcode. I made it through T1 in shock that my car was still facing the right way. I looked up at the incident bar to check it again... and missed the braking point for T2 and ploughed straight in the barrier all by myself. ****.

Bring on Daytona.

Nice paint Muska but whats Ausdrill?

I've got V1's owned them for about 3-4 years with daily abuse and whilst I have to clean them every now and then they are still solid equipment. Would love to get those HE pro pedals but I think a racing seat set up is required

Ausdrill is some Aussie company, this is an Australian Cup Car drivers car, with a few tweaks from me.

A friend of mine has the HE Pro's and he has them hard mounted, I think they'd move you or something otherwise, they require a lot of force so he says.

Spunkey, do you have the replay of you going under the car?!

I have to say that I'm really liking my CSP V2's as well, looking at maybe getting the DSD Tilton Style pedal plates.

I don't think I'm a fan of the clutch pedal though, maybe it's a bit stiff at the moment, so it doesn't feel quite right.

Just waiting for te Obutto Revolution to come back into stock.

I'd quite like one of the HE Pro/Ultimate sets, but you really need a cockpit, and that aint happening unless I either buy new monitors or a rift, and that won't happen till CV1 is out...

So G25 pedals it is for the time being :p

Started 2nd in car #5 in tonight's relatively low SOF race - at least by the weekend's standards. A guy I've raced with a lot in RUF cup was on pole and I knew I had a decent chance of nicking the win this time. Until someone divebombs me in to Moss on L1. I saw him coming so gave him well more than a cars width, but he bundled over the inside curb and straight in to me sending me in to barrell rolls :(

Another 100 iR lost. I cannot seem to get over the 3.2k iR hurdle. Everytime I do, Bathurst or Mosport happens and back down it comes.

Here's the replay of the previous incident where I went under another car.

It's strange watching it back. All I think when I'm watching it is that I had loads of time to avoid him, yet was obviously a bit 'rabbit in the headlights'.

PS I hate Mosport ;)

You've had pretty bad luck there by the sounds of it, I've come out very lucky in all my races, I was leading a race yesterday with Dali second when with 3 laps to go a back marker rejoined the track after T2, span wiping him out. This morning I took the lead after T1 then 2nd place got dive bombed at T2 and a few times I've seen carnage in my rear view early on in the race. I also managed to beat Yassine earlier after he made a mistake causing him to lose about 5mph on the back straight, I was able to catch him and make it stick to be pushed too hard trying to get back to me. All in all its been a good week, passed 3200irating (I'll no doubt have a shocker at Daytona road now!) 4.98 safety rating and my last 3 races were incident free!

I think this week, I loved Mosport! ;-)

That video is great by the way!

S-S-S-SUPER BUMP!

How's everyone's racing been this week? I've had a pretty quiet one as I'm still trying to get over tonsilitis :(

I've mostly been doing WSCS at Laguna. The results weren't too shabby either, 2 wins and 2 2nd places in the RUF.

The race with 25 HPDs, 11 Rileys, 5 CSpecs and 3 FGTs was... interesting. In fact my jaw hurts from being clenched so hard and my eyes hurt from being out on stalks for 45 minutes at a time. Awesome fun though, never a dull moment.

The highlights have to be the CSpec who's idea of being lapped was by pretty much stopping on the racing line, and the HPD who was slower than CSpec leaders pace (1:30s vs 1:27s). Fun times :)

I've given up caring about division positions I think. To do it properly you can only really do 4 races a week, and frankly that's boring, and also my iR and SR began to suffer as if I had a couple of bad races I couldn't do much to being them back up.

Muska, I've seen you're registered for the Daytona 2.4 that Michael Tader is organising, I'm in too. Looking forward to it next weekend. Should be a good race.

Haven't raced for two weeks now, I've been playing a lot of Borderlands 2.

The track selection for the GT3 and Skippy over the last two weeks haven't helped my enthusiasm for racing either.

Had an interesting race in the Skippy at Mosport yesterday.

Actually did a qualifying time for a change, new PB of 1:33.671 iirc, so was pretty happy.

Then as I sat on the grid for some reason I thought that I hadn't crashed at T2 yet.

Lap 2, Turn 2, spun off, somehow didn't hit anything, rejoined, eventually finished 8th through attrition and one decent overtake, and set a new PB, so a bit meh overall. The guy I was behind into T2 when I span ended up winning.
