iRacing

If you racked up 16x in 1x incidents then you're not ready. In the rookie classes, forget about racing people for position, it means very little. As said above try and complete the race distance without getting incident points and learn to anticipate the mistakes that others around you might make.

The porche rim is actually €499 now!!

I won't be buying anymore of their gear.

I really hate Philip island, bring on Sebring tomorrow.

I quite enjoyed it.

I thought I was quite competitive based on practice sessions. In practice I was around .7 off the best times, but as soon as I turn up to race I'm another .7 off the pace.

I certainly don't like forced repairs for a car that's perfectly drivable. Some of the glaring issues that there can be with the service can be quite annoying, especially when you consider how much it costs.

RUF Cup at VIR this week. Kill me. I don't think I've ever encountered such a **** track in any game. If I wanted to drive around Mickey Mouse corners all day I'd have bought a ticket to Disneyland.

^ I can't even bring myself to purchase it, it's so bland to look at, it looks like it belongs back in a game from the 90's.

From "Mickey Mouse Corners" I guessed at VIR North, checked and I'm right, w00t \o/

VIR South and Full are good layouts imo, some of my favourites, but North is decidedly terrible and the others are a bit meh.

Glad it's not just me then. Everyone in game I've spoken to about it seems to love it. I only bought it this week and wish I'd bought the Z4 instead.

Off to Watkins instead for some WSCS :D

Wow what a race, was not expecting that at all. :D I did Sebring today in the skips, with only a bit of practice Tuesday and it wasn't exactly clean so I wasn't expecting much. I managed to finish 2nd though, I was no where near the pace of quite a few other cars but got 0xs and kept it clean the whole race while they were falling off.

Watkins is a great track.

I have been racing in a V8 Supercars development league, after a ropey first race where the organiser took me out at T2 I managed to finish 10th out of about 35 cars today. Its a challenging drive, but rewarding when it starts to click.

Ready to give up on the Skippy, I did two races last night and got taken out in both. Same at Phillip Island, same at Suzuka.

The only races I managed to do without some idiot trying stupid overtaking moves was Lime Rock.

And most of these incidents are in the top split on Sunday evenings.

Time after time you get drivers who think its Need For Speed and you can overtake anyone, anytime, anywhere. There isn't even any courtesy in practice, driver just blast out of the pits and literally crash into you all the time.

I did some GT3 practice last night and at least there was respect for other drivers on track. Drivers waiting at the pit exit, drivers waiting to rejoin the track after an off, or moving off line on out laps when you're coming through.

At least in GT3 it's A and B licence only and they've had a little more time with the sim than some of the numpties you can get in the Skippy.

I had hopes for the Skippy series, it's not a glamorous car and it's not that easy to drive. So you sort of expect most of the drivers to be committed to driving well.

I've really enjoyed the skips at Sebring this week. After four races I've only got 9xs overall and two of the races I got 0, finishes have been a bit inconsistent though, 12th, 2nd, 5th and 15th. I've heard people in the race complaining about being taken out but it hasn't really happened to me. Other when I guy went a bit wide, span into the middle of the track and I hit him. Not really him being malicious but still annoying none the less.

I think the thing I find frustrating is, I can came to iRacing expecting to find other drivers like me. Fed up with playing other sims in public server full of wreckers and idiots driving the wrong way.

I thought I'd find everyone would be doing their level best to avoid contact and would have the patience to wait for a clean overtakes. While you don't get the same level of stupidity in iRacing as other sims, you still get a fair amount of it considering the money it can cost to play.

If I'm playing a car and track combination that's not included in the base content, then I assume I'm racing against people that are at willing to pay good money for good racing. So when someone try's to overtake on the outside, on the grass, on the approach to 130R at Suzuka. I think I'm entitled to be frustrated and annoyed.

I didn't get around to racing Sebring this week, only practised for a handful of laps, the pit exit there is always a bit of a mess in practice, people cut across immediately after the cones when the proper exit goes way out wide around the corner which is far safer.

The Skippy so far this season hasn't been too bad from my perspective, some slightly questionable moves (both from others and myself... :p) but overall not too bad.

Have you got a replay of the 130R bit, you've mentioned it before and it seems a really odd incident, surely if he had the run he would've gone up the inside?

I might have, I'll have a look.

The guy that did me last night did the same thing. He was right behind out of the final turn, as I moved towards the pit wall for turn one, he moved to my outside and I had to give him room to avoid putting him in the wall. That compromised me for turn one, but I stayed ahead. Then as we were going through turn four, he was behind and as I let the car go to the outside, he moved to my outside. I actually left him more than a cars width on the outside, but he put two wheels on the grass and spun inside and took me out. At that point I went into full on rant mode over the mic.

After the final corner, before the contact, he had three chances to get past me if he'd gone on the inside, because he had a tow three times. Into turn 1, 2 and 4, yet he tried on the outside??? It's just moronic driving in my book and they shouldn't even bother paying their subs, let alone paying for content as well.
