iRacing

finally got to GT3 after a week of me bashed into, taken out by back markers or insane re-joins  , bought the BMW as a decent beginner car. might pop on Sebring later to try it out on the fanatec series

Not raced in weeks, various reasons including spending time working on my car irl trying to get it ready for an MOT but yeah... Plan was/is to do GT4 this season, did some practice at Adelaide for the first week but never actually raced and not fired it up since.

Part of my excuses is that with a wheelstand I need to actually move it/get it setup, so clearly I need a proper rig setup, that'll fix it :p

well first race didnt go to plan in gt3, car spun back onto track and took me out:rolleyes: always the way, new learning curve needed though hugely different from what i drove before. but should be a blast

I bought the rig and then bought a desk that was too big and the rig got relegated to corner. Decided to do some Feng Shui, bought some longer cables and going to start the re-ordering of the room tonight. Need to make room for the rig so I'm not banging my arm on the radiator! Determined to get some use out of this iRacing sub :p

Managed to sort the rattle on my Simagic P1000i throttle as well. All working as it should do. Just need to get all my Fanatec gear on the bay now to cover the cost of the Evo base and Neo. Busy boy this evening!!

well this is interesting, since update have had werid performance issues, my fps was tanking even though had pretty much low across the board, so today disconnected my BT dongle for headset nd unparked all cores, now my performance has returned, im rock solid 130fps, my monitor is 100hz but gives me some space

There was a few occasions during this weekend's Nurburgring 24 hour when I was seeing noticeable frame drops. Wasn't just me either, team mates were seeing the same so potential server issues?

Also, we managed to win our N24 split in the TCR class (split 3). First time doing it in a lower class car. It was a puckering experience at times

Want to get back into it, but the thought of needing to practice for 1-2 hours for a "quick" race creates a significiant barrier.

ive just sold my moza setup , just found it very rough and vibrates like hell until tyres warm up, so need to get new setup, simagic is obvious choice but will nose about, hard not racing though, i miss it already lol

Mulling over whether to do the Indy 500 this evening, qualified top 50 so should be in split 2. My main worry is endless cautions and getting cramp in my right foot from having to feather the throttle in dirty air for 3 hours.

I Decided i wanted to get into Sim Racing, had this lot delivered on Friday and signed up to iRacing over the weekend. It's been a lot of fun and a steep learning curve. Still plodding along in the MX-5 at Oulton Park.

Mainly just concentrating on being smooth and keeping out of trouble.

Simagic Alpha Pro Wheelbase
Simagic Neo GT Wheel
Simagic P1000 Pedals

Purchases over the next few weeks:

Hydraulics on the pedals
FFB on the pedals
Handbrake
Gear Shifter

Will eventually either go triple screen or VR.

I did two. Both ended prematurely with crashes.

What was the trick with qualifying? There's definitely some knack to it, but nobody wants to share the technique.
