Is having a discreet public wee littering?

I love taking a **** outdoors.

Feels so natural, also good for the environment, don't flush saves water, fertilises ground, don't get drips on the floor so the Mrs doesn't moan, less use of cleaning materials etc

I work from home and in general when home I'll go outside in the garden to **** rather than in the house, unless it's late and everything is locked up.

Also don't bother washing my hands just for a wee, for the same reasons.

An English man's home is his castle. ;)

Mind you, in common with a majority of the world's population however I will still point percy at the porcelain if it's available

Regarding the indecent exposure argument, it seems like if the perp thought they were hidden then it does not count as indecent exposure. Though this is a sliding greyscale

Good luck with that argument should the police/cctv see you!

I carry one of these around, only used it the once and I have to extend it all the way ;)

I really could have done with that a few weeks ago when stuck in a motorway jam for two hours.

Same, I'll drop a log anywhere

As a litter womble, me and my fellow wombles find many bottles of **** which we refer as Drivers Tizer. Some are in 5l water bottles and screen wash. Hopefully that's a few days worth. That's littering compared to ****ing in a layby which the **** gets soaked into the ground.

Don't start on the amount of human poo we find.

Our facilities for truckers is pants. Plus some businesses where the drivers - truck and courier drivers deliver to, don't let them use their loos - a thing which started during the pandemic and many haven't reverted the policy back to pre covid times.

At work, we allow the various drivers to use our loos.

Most of the public toilets around where I am have been closed and/or are almost permanently out of use due to vandalism...

At some point most people if they've got to go they've got to go, as long as it is done as discretely as possible it is what it is...
Or to save £40k a year which most councils waste that amount a week on red tape and using agency staff.

Similar to public toilets a lot of rest areas for truckers, etc. have been closed in recent years, despite an increasing number of HGVs, etc. on the roads. EDIT: And/or former stops with facilities are just pull-offs from the road now.

If taking a leak (in public) is classed as littering, dog owners are going to be in a lot of trouble, surely!

Indeed. If the justification for the fine is "littering", then surely letting your dog pee in a public place would be considered littering as well.

How about hikers and wild campers? What are they supposed to do?

While I agree we don't want to encourage people peeing in towns and cities, this just feels like a way to take money. I bet it's a private contractor employed by the council taking the chance to grab another fine.

Clearly not littering, at least not in a layby or in the countryside... plenty of animals around urinating in fields just off many roads and motorways too. So long as he wasn't exposing himself to anyone then the contractor seems to have been a jobsworth here and the lawyer is right to challenge the council.

This is distinct from say urinating in public in a town or city centre where even if you're not seen it can cause an issue if multiple drunk people say use the same alleyway by some business/retail premises especially if there's not much rain to deal with it etc..

You should see the Tour De France and their "comfort" breaks. Mind you, with it being professional cycling, they would be more likely to be contravening chemical pollutant irrigation statutes than indecent exposure.

If i need a pee when on the road, it's find the nearest service station, if i'm desperate then i'll pull off and wander into a field - out of public view. The ones that just pee in a layby for all to see are dirty barstewards imo. As pointed out, also an offence.
