Is it acceptable for men to drink wine in pubs?

I drink whatever the hell I feel like. I can't even imagine worrying about what other people think about me. I'm me. If they think I'm gay because I drink a glass of wine, that's up to them. It doesn't actually change anything.

Drinking wine may make losers think you are gay, it won't actually make you fancy blokes.

Indeed and here here! :)

I've only ever drunk wine to help speed things up with ladies I'm with "ooh no , what? oh you've drunk your wine - LET'S ******* GO!!!!"

Vodka (good stuff, e.g. Grey Goose, Finlandia) double on the rocks is a very nice drink I have to say though.

I drink wine all the time, depends what kind of of wine list they have. Agreed most pubs don't have good wine, but some do!

Maybe it's my Mediterranean roots but I'm always drinking red wine, i don't give a damn what anyone else thinks...

I was raised drinking it with my parents since a young age, it's just normal for me.

I think it is different on holiday - of course depending where you are. Sitting in a bar on the med with a deep red having had a nice evening meal is very different to trotting to the local and quaffing a cheap rosé watching the footy :)

Hehe, ok there is a time and a place, I probably wouldn't have wine surrounded by a bunch of thugs watching the footy.

It's it's just casual night with a few mates then i'll happily drink wine. *hic

And I certainly wouldn't buy cheap wine unless i had no other choice.

*shrug* when i go to pubs i usually drink the green flavour j20s.. i think on the manlyscale(tm) that puts me somewhere between "flaming homoqueen" and "asexual"? :)

interesting tip though, if you're at the bar ordering a non-manly drink and the person next to you sees this and asks if you're gay, saying "no, i just like touching my female side" shuts them up for a while :D

No, it is not acceptable.

Whiskey and Coke as a substitute. :)

make it a good malt and ditch the coke and you're there. scotch when out. vodka or scotch at home (most of the vodka you get in the pubs is bloody smirnoff or absolut)

actually there was an offer on in sainsburys the other day with a nice looking malt half price at £14.99 might pop in and pick some up at that price.

All depends on the establishment as to the reaction it will get. In many pubs nobody would bat an eyelid in others you might get a stool thrown in your direction.

It's pretty crazy because I bet there are loads of blokes who would have wine with a meal when taking a girl out but then with their mates would frown upon another person drinking it down the Boozer. My circle of friends just have what they fancy on the night, we go to the pub to relax and have a good time we have better thing to worry about.

There are plenty hardnut Greek and Roman warriors through the ages who drank plenty wine, it's only the ignorant who have cause for concern.

For a variety of reasons I've gone right off beer (and cider) right now so am looking for an alternative to drink and was thinking about wine, but it just feels wrong. Is it just my paranoia or would I really look completely ridiculous drinking a glass of wine when all my friends have pints?

What other acceptable man drinks are there?

if you drink wine in a pub most people will just think you are gay. so yes you would look rediculus:)
