Is it pointless starting WoW now?

I played it for a few weeks in 2006 or 2007 and for some reason stopped (can't remember why) would you say now is too late to start again and be a newbie in the game?

I'm inclined to say that if you're going to start WoW, wait till the next expansion comes out before you do as it'll change a lot of things about.

Never too late.Due to the fast nature of levelling you'll be 80 in no time.Having said that, levelling on your own via questing can be a lonely experience.A lot of existing players have alts that they want to level as quickly as possible and do so via the random dungeon grouping system. The community also sucks hard on a lot of realms, with immature idiots being..well,idiots :D

Ignore them and get into a good social levelling guild though and all will be well.

It is easy to get to 80 nowadays but I still enjoy playing (played from release) and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an enjoyable mmo experience (apart from the aforementioned lack of community)

I only started last month now got 1 lvl 61 and theres plenty new players. dont worry about starting.

It says because I haven't played so long I can claim 7 free days so I'll see if I like it. Should I play with the default UI/no addons or are there much better ones you guys can recommend?

Wait till the new expansion. They are changing all the first world/island whatever it is. ... I think.

The main reason I want to give it a go is because everyone says it's easy haha. And it has a ton of content. My last MMO was Aion and that was just painful to play, a slow long grind. After about 150 hours of play time I still hadn't PVPed at all because all that time was spent grinding and every time I tried to PVP I just got killed in a few hits by some level 50.

I don't play WoW anymore but it's never to late to start. You'll catch up.

It might be sensible to hold out for the expansion though as there's going to be huge changes to the zones.

Then you'll love WoW :D

Easy to level, easy to get good gear, easy to PvP

It's never too late to start a game that isn't based around PVP IMO, the problem with being a latecomer is in games where there is a steep learning curve and you can get battered for the first six months (deathmatch FPS games being a good example).

Personally I bought Guildwars a couple of weeks ago, really need to get started on it though because apparently GW2 isn't that far off which I guess will kill the scene a bit.

Can you guys recommend me a server? I have 2 low level characters on Daggerspine but it says the population there is low... Also which race/class would be best to start with?

If your coming back, I would suggest waiting until Cataclysm, should hit around September/November time, mainly due to massive changes and overhauls making the game FAR better for new players.

Just go on the realm list and find a server with a high population. In terms of class and race, play whatever you like the look of, get it to level 10-15 and if your still liking it, keep going.

Go for it.

Find a server with a high population and there will be lots of people leveling for you to play with.

Try and hit 80 before the new expansion comes out and you won't be behind everyone else apart from raiding experience.

It's never too late to start playing WoW as you get constant updates ie new instances and things to do, however you already have 2 expansions and 3rd one coming in few months time so it takes longer to get to maximum level.

Probably a good time to start. Once the level cap increases to 85 you'll be on more of a level playing field gear-wise with people who have been level 80 for a long time.

That's what I'm counting on anyway. ;)
