I don't think you need to, there isn't anything actually wrong with not and plenty of people look fine not going full skinhead.

Just had my hair cut this afternoon (was meant to last Saturday) and it's basically the same as the OPs, but No2 guard on the back and sides and scissor cut short on top. Was going to get No1 on the back and sides but chickened out. May try next time.
