ISIL, ISIS, Daesh discussion thread.

Must be a nightmare militarily :( doesn't seem to have been covered that extensively in the media where it seems to be portrayed more as a conventional military victory - they'll largely be dealing with a mess of mines/IEDs/booby traps, snipers and suicide bombers and once the military starts to build up there to use it as a staging ground for Raqqa, etc. they will probably have to deal with frequent suicide and hit and run attacks.

Yeah must be a nightmare - Assad picking up the phone to his mates in Islamic State and asking them if they'd mind awfully pulling out of Palmyra. In Ramadi the US special forces trained Golden Brigade fought IS house-to-house, street-by-street supported by US airstrikes to regain territory. In Palmyra IS just left apart from a token force willing to be martyred and a bunch of Syrian conscripts just rolled into town and took it from them. This 'victory' stinks to high heaven and I'm disappointed our lamestream media are buying it without question.

Love your little stories Scorza.:p

Pity it was taken back after the scum destroyed all of its cultural significance.

There is still lots there that wasn't destroyed. I'm sure lots of the stuff that was heavily damaged will be rebuilt as well. Not perfect but (hopefully) they are now gone for good.
