ISIL, ISIS, Daesh discussion thread.

There isn't any yet, the rebels claim that they were attacked by Assad/Russia, Assad/Russia claim their strike hit a rebel ammo dump where they were storing their chemical weapons, people are dead, and that's everything we know so far.

IMO I don't see why the rebels would have a stockpile of Sarin weapons when they have been using chlorine gas, makes no sense.

Superficially the injuries don't seem any different to those of the effect of an implosion though you'd normally expect a proportion of casualties with external injuries as well.

I think his logic will be that because Assad is winning it would be against his best interests to use chemical weapons and risk incurring the wrath of the west. Which is true however it's also logical that he knows that and might do it anyway because he knows it doesn't make any sense lol.

Hopefully we will find out eventually which side is telling the truth.

Are we allowed to speculate about this chemical weapon terror attack?
It's a war crime not a terror attack.

For people thinking it's difficult to get Sarin, don't forget that the rebels are being funded/supplied by nations that have the ability to create it easily and funded by the Saudis so it if cost anything, they can pay.

I believe nothing, especially after Iraq... which is probably why we havent invaded and killed another 200000 Syrians just so another nation can fall, another terrorist group can form and then we invade Iran... cycle, repeat etc.

Pretty much.

"A chemical weapons expert, Col Hamish de Bretton-Gordon, told the BBC that the Russian version of events was "pretty fanciful".

The idea that a nerve gas like Sarin could spread after a weapons manufacturing process had been bombed was "unsustainable", he added."

I believe there were a few establishments in Syria that held stocks - some possibly seized by rebels.

Seems unlikely as any blast big enough to disperse stored agents would also destroy them but I guess its not infeasible if there was already assembled warheads and rocket delivery mechanism they were set off by secondary fires and shot off randomly as can be seen in the recent Ukraine weapons storage explosion i.e. https://youtu.be/U4t4LC-wZYo?t=177

Well the Russians have finalised their "version" of events:

The Syrian Air Force has destroyed a warehouse in Idlib province where chemical weapons were being produced and stockpiled before being shipped to Iraq, Russia’s Defense Ministry spokesman said. The strike, which was launched midday Tuesday, targeted a major rebel ammunition depot east of the town of Khan Sheikhoun, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Major-General Igor Konashenkov said in a statement.

The warehouse was used to both produce and store shells containing toxic gas, Konashenkov said. The shells were delivered to Iraq and repeatedly used there, he added, pointing out that both Iraq and international organizations have confirmed the use of such weapons by militants. The same chemical munitions were used by militants in Aleppo, where Russian military experts took samples in late 2016, Konashenkov said.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out as the UN will basically have to call Russia liars openly in order to pin any blame on Assad, which if it was done by loyalist forces is a pretty brilliant strategy.

which if it was done by loyalist forces is a pretty brilliant strategy.

Gonna get messy if that is the case - either Assad or Russia would have to shut them down internally or those loyalists could force Russia into a confrontation with the West - they have no real reason to stop unless forced to.

Standard Russian tactic. Lie.

The video doing the round on facebook is horrendous let fight man on man but dont use these horrible gases on defenceless civilians the video is sickening to the core

Haven't looked at all the videos but a textbook method of bombing suspected storage of chemical or biological weapons is the use of thermobarics - which can cause similar symptoms in those caught on the edge of the weapon's effect - too far out to be burnt but close enough the pressure wave causes barometric pressure effects on the lungs, etc. = foaming at the mouth and problems breathing and so on.

Chemical attacks have been false flagged before. There are many staged videos on it on YouTube.

It is quite worrying the drum for war which has been attempted before.

Why would Assad who has nearly won the war randomly use chemical gas on civilians. It does not make sense.

CNN are a lefties wet dream.
Assad has won and doesn't need to do this kind of thing.

Lol @ CNN, like anyone would be stupid enough to think that a rescuer would pull somebody out of the rubble then hand them to somebody else to take to the medical personnel like in the west, how stupid do they thing people are, hurr hurr.

It has been proven that some videos had the same people in them but in different places.
