ISIL, ISIS, Daesh discussion thread.

lol

i guess saddam didnt care what the wider world thought of him stock piling chemical weapons and thats why he ignored all the warnings, he welcomed the attack and all its led to

Differnce between sadam and Russia being 18,000 nuclear warheads give or take.

Why would the Syria regime do this now, its absolutely ridiculous. They are really trying to push support for Syria takeover.

I suppose the obvious answer is you're looking at this as "why would they do this now out of the blue" when the situation is really "they never stopped".

Syrian government has been using chlorine weapons on civilians as part of the routine bombing campaign for well over a year now.

It's only because people thought this might be sarin that it got any news coverage.

White hats are regularly reporting chlorine useage but its not a chemical weapons/nerve agent so it doesn't get the same response.

This latest attack will likley be chlorine too

If it was then isn't it more likely to have been a terrorist storage house hit by the airstrikes rather than the Russians and Syrians using something so crude and so easily identifiable that once this **** storm is over can really get them ****** over in the international courts?

They're throwing ******* old barrels with fuses lit by a lighter out the back of helicopters and you think throwing a couple of gas canisters out at the same time would be too crude?

They use chlorine for the simple reason that it very effectivly kills people who have retreated into underground shelters from the innacurate bombs.

They don't have the precision or firepower to target those shelters but gas that sinks to the lowest point? Easy solution

When the enemy are setting up their mortars/artillery on top of residential buildings and firing onto civilian areas there isn't really any difference between using guided/unguided munitions in response, the collateral damage is going to be high.

The problem is sadly that if you stop responding then the insurgents know all they have to do to be safe is make sure their human shields are big enough.

Well there is however a massive difference in using say a 5kg warhead one. Hellfire versus throwing a 500lb bomb out of the back of a helicopter

Someone has launched missiles and flown jets over Lebanon to Syria, and hit a Syrian government airbase, within the past few hours. Washington, the initial suspect given Trump's promise of a big price to be paid, have denied it was them. Israel now main suspect, given the alleged flight-path and its officials' position on the latest chemical incident in Syria (very hawkish), after Washington's denial. Pot's well and truly being stirred.

Probably is Israel considering it was mainly drones that were targeted. It's a good chance the Israelis were getting sick and tired of the Iranians using said drones to invade Israeli airspace and so just took them out when the opportunity arose. Not to mention the fact that Israel has already attacked that particular base a few months back.

No it isn't are you an intelligence operative or a government administration with full knowledge of the situation in Syria?

No, you aren't. Stop pretending to be one, I have no idea what's actually going on in Syria and neither do you, i can't in good conscience decide what's legitimate in this time of fakery and lies, patience fortunately is a good policy when you have no agenda (unlike everyone involved in the region).

It'll come out eventually.

I have an important question here that i sometimes wonder about though, why do you care about some arab/muslim backwater?

Heh

Because it's my job to.

Why do you?

Guess i'm unlucky then, I frankly don't beyond the effects it has as symptoms of failed foreign policy on domestic soil, it's up to the natives to sort themselves out, which is why all the meddling is contrived nonsense.

The spiral of foreign policy failures seems too juicy for administrations of the Permanent members of the UN to ignore seemingly (I could include Israel and Turkey, but they're just pawns really).

Regardless, if you're implying that you're in the know, what is your opinion of the dodgy dossier?
