ISIL, ISIS, Daesh discussion thread.

My point is if it hadn't been pointed out that they were from the so called Free Syrian Army you'd have just assumed they were IS from the way they behaved. Do the two groups have different uniforms or wear badges so we know which is which?

One waves Syrian flags, one waves ISIS flags lol.

How are the Syrian army going to fight the Islamic State if they can't even beat the poorly armed/equipped rebels on their front line?

If the west hadn't been backing the rebels and hampering the army then the rebels would have been crushed before ISIS hit the scene and then they would have been beaten back to Iraq.

Russia is doing what I would have done and carpet bomb them.

The Americans are carpet bombing (as well as using drones ofc), Russia is using precision satellite guided bombs dropped by multi-role fighters and cruise missiles fired from ships.

do you guys even know what carpet bombing is? no one is doing it with drones

This is carpet bombing ie flattening a large area with a carpet of explosives

Jdamn hardly count as carpet bombing either they might destroy a huge area but they are guided bombs with precision

^^ Don't think anyone was inferring they were using drones to carpet bomb.

What constitutes carpet bombing can be a little subjective at times but yeah not much of the action in Syria qualifies as carpet bombing.

I see deuse is derping all over the internet again....

What's "derping" or what does it mean where you come from?(never seen\heard of it)

Besides, the Syrian regime are definitely not the good guys in this, they're the worst of a very bad lot (yes, even worse than IS - they just don't upload videos of their torture/murders to ********).

they aren't poorly armed and equipped we've spent millions well equipping and arming them :p

The only support they've received from the west has been non-lethal. Any arms they've received haven't come from us (more likely Saudi, Qatar, Turkey). Western policy of non-interference in Syria has just dragged the conflict out.

publicly you mean.

i think there have been enough incidents such as Iran contra to show that we don't publicly say all the arms deals we do...

Giving the Taliban anti air missiles (and Rambo) to help them against Russia, and that in no way came back to haunt the US lol.
