ISIL, ISIS, Daesh discussion thread.

These women, or these families that up sticks and just swan off to Syria or wherever to fight for IS are presumably living in rented or social housing, as news reel footage of their abandoned properties never show a for sale sign. In a conventional war sympathisers of a nation we are at war with or their party would be considered traitors and locked up, as with Nazi sympathisers in WWI and WWII. What's happened to that legal tenet?

How much extra prison property would need to be built to house all the sympathisers though, should the government go down that route? Anyone know how many Nazi sympathisers were interred during the last 2 world wars in GB?

BBC are saying it looks like a non military model plane, but some people have said it looks similar to Russian drones, however that similarity seems to be limited to being grey and having wings lol.

*EDIT*

Now some people are saying it looks like an obsolete prototype of the Orlan-10 drone Russia uses (hence why it looks so different to the Orlan-10) lol.

Anyone see Channel 4 news last night? It featured a report on a Russian airstrike on Aleppo (where there are no Islamic State fighters) that killed a few kids. Haven't seen this reported anywhere else or even on Channel 4's website. I guess dead children only matter if it's the US or its allies who killed them

So the Russian\Iranian and the Lebanese militia Hezbollah forces beat the USA\EU backed rebels.

Why are you surprised? Mind you the rebels did destroy two tanks.

Nah, dead kids only matter if their parents are doctors.

Indeed, The idea that Russia is somehow not killing any civilians while flying 10x as many missions as the US is pretty comical. The is always collateral damage on large scale bombing campaigns. The only advantage the Russians have is that American has already blown up the hospitals lol.

The trouble is northern Europe and America are so anaesthetised by `elf `n' safety, so wrapped in cotton wool, and removed from reality these days they expect fighting forces who are engaged in civil war, with no demarcation of battle fields as such, to have no collateral damage. Such a mindset is ludicrous. Of course civilians including children and the elderly, and buildings like schools and hospitals will occasionally be hit.

Post makes no sense.

I'll try and change out all the big words for you.

The problem is the west is so used to being a nanny state these days that we expect people fighting a civil war (with no set battlefields or combat zones) to have no collateral damage. Such a mindset is ludicrous. Of course civilians (including children and the elderly), and buildings like schools and hospitals will occasionally be hit.

It will take brutality and collateral to deal with ISIS – Russia has a higher tolerance for that than the west. The west doesn’t want to get its hands dirty, or at least not directly, so they just arm people and then look the other way.

As for Russia not attacking ISIS, they’re attacking all opposition forces to try and restore order. I doubt they’re even differentiating between them, and just hitting the best targets as they present themselves.

"this post makes no sense" does not mean "I don't understand" and the likes of yourself are always so keen to jump in with a smart arse comment it becomes quite dire. You're in fact so hypocritical it's comical. If the West were outright carpet bombing the ME into the stone age you'd be the first to pipe up with the usual vitriol.

I think most of these posters who bleat "nanny state" would contradict themselves that way though. The fact is we have laws and conventions. We have technological ability to apply strikes with precision that means we don't have to mercilessly kill everyone,. who wants to do that anyway? I think it's clear who the people who are quite "removed" are.

Further, the fact Russia can barely land it's cruise missiles in the correct country is telling of a force that is antiquated in places.
