ISIL, ISIS, Daesh discussion thread.

In a humiliating development for Putin, pro-Russian agitators are shocked to discover he can't even defend his own embassy:

Two rockets have struck the Russian embassy compound in Damascus, sparking panic as several hundred people gathered to express their support for Moscow's air war in Syria, according to reports.

Some 300 people had begun to gather for a demonstration backing Russia's recent intervention in Syria when the rockets crashed into the embassy compound in the Mazraa neighbourhood of the capital, journalists at the scene said.

...The head of Al Qaeda's Syrian affiliate has called on jihadists in the Caucasus to attack Russian civilians and soldiers in retaliation for Moscow's air strikes in Syria.

"If the Russian army kills the people of Syria, then kill their people. And if they kill our soldiers, then kill their soldiers. An eye for an eye," Abu Mohamed al-Jolani, the head of Al-Nusra Front, said in an audio recording released late on Monday.

He pledged that Moscow's air war in Syria, which began on September 30, would have dire consequences for Russia.

You'd think it would be newsworthy what with the rally being shelled.

Well to be fair they do report the shelling of the embassy and the first bit of text reads "Two shells have struck the Russian embassy compound in the Syrian capital Damascus as hundreds of pro-government supporters rallied outside in support of Russian air strikes". It's not on their news homepage, although nonsense like "Clinton gears up for Democratic debate" is, but within the Middle East section.

It makes you wonder about the BBC's agenda though! (sorry for stating the obvious!)

I've often thought the same but I also believe all news organisations have an agenda one way or another. I only learned of recent troubles in the West Bank by looking on Al Jazeera. It's prominently on their homepage whereas the BBC has some pretty obscure links dotted around. There's been multiple incidents over the past fortnight where Palestinians have been involved in stabbings, shootings, running people over, clashes with Israeli security forces yet it seems the BBC deem this less news worthy than a US presidential candidate gearing up for a debate. It is rather odd.

One of the many reasons I stopped paying the telly tax.

I find it interesting which articles media websites allow comments on and which they don't.

It's like they know what opinions would be and choose to disallow discussion they don't want

Yes anything that would give more ammunition for the right often has no option for comments. This happens on many news sites I see.

LOL silly wee Muslim lassie on Channel 4 news who went to the Islamic State, only to find out it wasn't an Islamic paradise after all and escaped is now complaining that she might be arrested if she returns to Britain (she's in Turkey). Another one of these ones who went looking for her husband and decided it was a good idea to take her three kids with her to do this.

That would be my preference, but the softies will let her back.

Aye, and probably with arguments like 'they can tell the others how bad life is in the Islamic State'. I'm sorry but there have been enough reports about IS for people to make a judgement - if they're still too thick to realise what IS despite all we've heard about it then frankly they should go to IS and remove themselves from the gene pool.

Wasn't it 5 kids?
