It didnt take them long - Fans fighting.

I presume it was initially to celebrate but why are these things getting into the ground anyway? It wasnt like it was a couple there were loads...

I assume the fighting was just other fans having a go at the ones causing the disturbance.

Just completely futile - first time I really felt for the players who deserved all the plaudits and its gone completely the other way...

ps3ud0

Yes the players deserve as much credit as they can get, i noticed quite a lot of riot police in front the stand with the trouble, good to see compared to what we saw in the England\Russia game.

Was that a smerke bermb?

If this is a taster of France's security systems, it's no wonder they're suffering the crap they are. Even after all the fights and riots already people are STILL getting dangerous stuff in to the stadiums. It just beggars belief.

Just saying last night in the Jo Cox thread that everything gets lazily labelled as terrorism lately.....and bingo, on the news this morning a croatian (I think) spokesman was just saying 'These aren't real football fans, they are just sports terrorists'

Yeah it's ridiculous.

You just know that if it happened here with one flare being thrown, they would increase the security checks and start advising fans to come earlier because it will take longer to get through the security.

It's not just a failing, but also an embarrassment for the French authorities, as how are they supposed to reassure their people that their security is being taken seriously in the light of recent events.

I really dont understand this hooligan culture. Lets beat someone close to death, stamp on his head shouting England!! Brilliant!! Well done!!

I mean who in there right mind wants to be on the receiving end of that? So why give it out?

Don't get me wrong I love boxing, UFC and UFC is a little more violent but they both agree and there still a ref and that is that.

Football Hooligans total scum!

As much as I want to agree with you there is a code of conduct amongst English Hooligans. I'm not saying it's never happened but if you go down and stay down they move onto another rival hooligan. What we are seeing in the Euros are the Russians who aren't abiding by these rules and were stamping as well as attacking non hooligans.
Here in England, and I've known this to happen, one week Stoke could be fighting Birmingham at a pre planned location and the following week Birmingham & Stoke hooligans will get together to go and fight Aston Villa.

Why don't the french just bring in the army? The thugs won't mess about then. In fact it should be a given considering the threat of terrorist attack.

Joe blogs seeing a bobby with a baton in his hand they will just laugh. Seeing a French soldier holding his famas and full military gear they are going to back off.

I thought there was meant to be a fair amount of the army there.

They cant be too heavy handed or it will kick up such a fuss that things could go sour internationally and also locally.

A crowd/mob's mentality can be balancing on a knife edge and a push might just have it wobble and fall off the wrong side.

I was rather surprised there wasn't trouble from the Russian "fans" during and after the Wales game, once it became clear that their team was crashing out of the tournament anyway.
