Italian Grand Prix 2011, Monza Circuit - Race 13/19

I can see the thinking behind not using DRS for top speed, but the zones look so far away from the initial acceleration areas that that plan surely wont work under race conditions?

Looks like DRS might be pretty much written off for the race, and instead just used in the non DRS zones (i.e. acceleration areas) during qualifying.

I did wonder how much drag could realistically be lost from the already uber skinny Monza spec wings.

this looks to be one of the more interesting races of the year and im in london for it.

will record it all and watch it monday.

just got to try to avoid the result all weekend.

i think mercedes could be on for a decent result this weekend.

grrrr Im working this weekend - but hoping for something enjoyable to watch late Sunday afternoon (I will be crossing everything for a JB victory)

Digital Download > Physical Disc, even with the price difference, tbh.

Personally think you have that completely the opposite way round - my preference is always to have a phyisical copy just in case the worst happens.....but then Im also limitied to broadband of 1.5mb at best (and being bt its not always stable) - but each to their own:)

This has to be a McLaren win...surely.

:)

I'm much more into the digital download. A year later when the CD is lost, cracked or worn the download works fine.

People are actually buying F1 2011 after the farce that was F1 2010?

Deffo! Safety Car, improved weather system, Kers, DRS, Split screen mode, Co-op Online mode with a friend, 16 player (8 AI) 24 man Multiplayer Races, increased damage model, vastly improved handling physics, better graphics, up to date tracks (India new Silverstone), all current drivers, better animations etc. etc. etc. Enough reasons to part with £30! :)

Had many a good race on 2010, nothing beats its against mates on teamspeak :) Didn't play the single player much so no idea if that had the problems?

Yes, but will it actually work?

Yup, digital download is the way forward. I like having all of my games in one place i.e. Steam - also that they all auto update and a lot auto back up saves and settings now too :)

I prefer hard copies with a cd key that I can enter into steam. Best of both worlds.

have mclaren given up hope on a championship?

will they back a single driver to maximise points or just let them go for a win and forget about this year?

i think alonso mite do well this weekend.

and i hope schui can get a podium, the mercedes has done its best at the low downforce tracks.

There were some 'issues' with the SP. They patched some, but others were left unresolved (the biggest for me being the pit lane 'safe release' bug meaning you would go from 1st to last with a 30 second pit stop as people came past you).

However, this didn't stop me thoroughly enjoying the game in both SP and MP. It was proper 'pick up and play' fun, but also worked well in a more 'sim' environment doing longer races on highest difficulty.

I think everyone has given up realistically. Expect a race by race thrash to the end for pride from everyone other than RBR.

Ferrari will still ignore Massa and back Alonso (although Massa hasn't helped himself by being decidedly average all year). McLaren will just let their drivers get on with it.

All we need is a couple of DNFs from Vettel, or 3. :)

lol at Buttons quote :D

Jenson Button said:
Everyone starts building their cars earlier and earlier for the next season, and for us to say we're going to do a better job than anyone else - how can we judge that? Ferrari are saying they're going to rule Formula 1 for the next 300 years or something, but I don't know how quick we're going to be next year.

Humm, I'm torn. 2010 was epically bad, and yet I still briefly played it. Maybe 2011 will be better....? Any reviews out there?
