Italian Grand Prix 2011, Monza Circuit - Race 13/19

Assuming that DRS doesnt really give much of an advantage (given the virtually non existent rear wing), I am hoping that RBR won't be as dominant. This could be the first non-RBR pole of the year, assuming that Hamilton can get his act together.

If Vettel is not on pole, then on race day, Hamilton or Alonso have a good chance of a win.

One thing's for sure, Vettel is not in the same form that he was at the start of the season, where he was basically humiliating his team-mate and all the other drivers on the grid.

The Championship is definitely over, though. Vettel: 2 World Drivers Championships...at such a young age.

Nice to see mclaren 1+2, but we've seen that before. RBR always seem to dial their engines down in practice more than anyone else. Or turn them up to 102% in qauli.

Yep. Qualifying is where RBR are at their best. Also, Vettel normally raises his game for Q3.

If Hamilton can get on the front row and apply constant pressure to Vettel (even if Vettel is leading), Vettel may break. Hamilton's problem has been the sheer number of collisions and incidents that he gets himself involved in. What this means is that he just isn't able to apply race-long, constant pressure to Vettel.

Yup, also the Renault engine isn't lacking as it may have been 2 seasons ago. Petrov was the fastest in FP1 at 347km/h!

FP2 should be more relevant as teams will run the soft tyre at some point and do a few low fuel runs. Many teams will also be putting in a new engine at some point this weekend.

Looking at the times between FP1 and FP2 it looks like the softer tyre is worth 1-1.2s per lap over the hard. Ferrari seem to be struggling with the hard tyre again, I think I heard they are using the pre Silverstone suspension setup again (as they did in Spa).

By the looks of it McLaren ran a slightly higher fuel load in FP2 than they did in FP1.
