Italian Grand Prix 2012, Monza - Race 13/20

wut = what

Now what the hell was your post trying to say?

I might just be a bit hungover still but I still can't fathom what on earth you were trying to say :p

Sorry I am bedridden at the mow and my monitor is over 6ft away..

What I was try to say was..in my view alonso made a mistake
in his view something was wrong with alonso,s car..so
it would be better for alonso to have made a mistake then a car problem.

But now we know it's his car....:D

In all honesty, Webber is never going to win the title, with Vettel as his team-mate.

Also, it has been confirmed that Alonso's car was broken in Q3, but he went out to help his team-mate and also in the hope of getting a fast time and qualifying ahead of other drivers.

He also stated that this would've been an easy pole for him, had his car been good.

I think he's right. He only needed to slightly improve his Q2 time.

Will be good to watch him coming through from the back. I just hope the McLarens are still in the race after turn 1.

Considering his lack of running due to P1/P2 problems for Alonso he did very well to get the car up and as fast as he was, and judging by the Q2 times most of the top guys gained a few tenths partially track getting more grippy, partially the top guys holding something back for Q3. Shame for him but, had he not pee'd around early in the session I think he could have put in a much better lap.

Something may have broken at the end or the mistake may have fluffed that last lap completely. Funnier still was Massa did a significantly faster lap without the tow at the end, complete waste by Ferrari. Did he have a real problem or did they see an excuse to swap out for a new gear box/other parts anyway, its not like the car won't find it . The final sector doesn't mean anything, one big mistake and they knew he was done and would struggle to get above 10th anyway so there wasn't any point pushing.

Take a hit now, have as fresh and fixed a car as possible for this and the next race. Maybe, who knows. However they sent him out for another run after the first one, it clearly wasn't working that badly. Not doing a banker lap and then IF Massa was struggling maybe try and help him at the end was mental, that was a Mclaren style tactical smeg up.

Alonso has new gearbox anyway after DNF in Spa you can change it with no penalty. They said it's the rear anti-roll bar that broke, and off course the 3rd sector means something, he has been mighty quick in S3 all weekend and to be so far off the pace in there says something is pretty wrong. If you watched his interview you would have seen him say they hoped to maybe get a bit better than 10th so off course was pushing.

"It's a shame because I think it would have been the easiest pole position of the year for us," said Alonso.

Should be an interesting race to say the least, the fastest car up in 10th position.

If he gets a clean start and a trouble free first corner, I can easily see him getting a podium out of the race. Which is not bad when the nearest challengers are struggling.

So,

McLaren have 3 pole positions in a row.
2 races wins a row.

Is it fair to say that they now have the best car in F1?

They have had the best car for most of the season, they just haven't used it or have managed to **** it up.

Great for the championship how things are atm

People only ever say that when it gives their team or driver a chance to claw back points. If Button was leading the title and was looking at 2 bad places I'm sure you wouldn't have posted that :D

Now people might believe me, there is no way Alonso will win this title. His car just isn't fast enough and once he's had a spell of bad luck and the others are back on his tail he won't have a car fast enough to do damage.

A Button Hamilton crash on the first lap will be excellent just to see this forum argue about it until November. ;)

He was over 0.8seconds down after sector 2.... the third sector meant nothing. He hasn't been that mighty in sector three, it was more everyone else sucking in sector three, except, Hamilton didn't, Button was like a half second down on people in S3 this morning but not in quali.

Alonso's best S3 time was 0.05seconds faster than Hamilton, everyone relevant pretty much was within 2 tenths absolute max, and that is starting from a good S2, a poor S2 and you're starting S3 badly, not a chance in hell he could pull back even 2 tenths at best. It was completely over before sector 2 ended.
