Italian Grand Prix 2012, Monza - Race 13/20

Nearly spat my tea all over the monitor.....not quite sure why you and Duke feel the need to get all uptight....

Not getting uptight at all - just saying the last few times people have suggested at a DNF by a driver to spice up the WDC was met by you taking it a little serious yourself :)

I just find it poor, Spa was a lot less exciting because we lost Alonso and Lewis at turn 1, it just lessens the show if the top cars are sitting by the side of the track, as a F1 fan I would much rather see them all on track racing for the win.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Only upside is we have someone who defiantly cause a decent first corner pile up and keep the championship interesting.

I was hoping for Rubens but I guess for just 1 race Jerome makes the most sense :(

Will certainly be a good oppotunity for him to show if he has anything as that Lotus is a good car... He won't have much time to get a lot of running in it though, so will be tough for him.

I was so excited by the idea of Rubens having one final race!

I really doubt we will see anything impressive from Jerome, he hasn't had much car time, he really wasn't all that last year compared to the people around him and I think they could have entertained better options.

A Jacque attack would have been about as effective for Lotus as sticking this guy in...

If you can't test, and you rarely get any car time, and and then when a driver is out you weren't called up, and what would be the point in 3rd drivers?

Yea third drivers have become a little pointless as of late. I think if they were looking for a driver for the remainder of the season they perhaps would have chosen differently (especially as they are having a good season in the standings) but for one race only they don't have too much to lose.

Have to say that Force India seem to have a decent system for third drivers, they actually get some running in the car throughout the year not just for one or two occasions... Think Williams sometimes have had a driver give up car time for Bottas too?

Yeah Williams and Force India run their 3rd drivers on Fridays a lot, but but it's at the loss of a session for a race driver which can have an impact. I think that while the testing ban has helped cut costs, it's done massive damage to the driver development process and F1 is going to suffer for it.

I know what you mean, maybe at some point regulated testing will be allowed in some form... An additional testing session on race weekends or every other race whereby only test drivers could run I don't think would add too much to the costs.
