Italian Grand Prix 2015, Monza - Race 12/19

Pfft, I'm totally over Lewis now tbh.

I find myself now, bizzarely, rooting for Vettel to outscore Rosberg and snatch 2nd in the WDC!

Won't lie, I've been hoping for this too. One to end Mercedes grasp on the top two spots and two, just to see how Rosberg reacts to being beaten by someone in a lesser car.

Reportedly Mclaren taking a 10 place penalty for ALonso and a 5 place for Button. Seeing as it's a 10 place for the first part of a new engine and 5 for each of the remaining parts, Button is taking an old part from already used engine but as he's taken a penalty for all parts of both engines used at the last race that could only really mean lets say the battery failed on both of those engines taken and they are going to one of the older ones. If either worked he'd still be using it.

With Alonso, same deal really except he didn't have an 'old one' to use so has to take it from a new engine. That is pretty pitiful, taking the embarrassing hit of an extra engine while using the rules in a dodgy way because they know they'll have more failures... and the attempt to prevent future penalties didn't even work.

Will be interesting to see what part they are taking. If they both for instance take a new turbo or mgu-h, then it's still got massive reliability problems. I believe the turbo/mgu-h upgrades in Canada are the ones that were the most unreliable and I don't think were updated on the new engine.

I don't think anyone cares tbh, this season was written off for McLaren a long time ago. 2015 is just a testing session for 2016.

I shall be watching this...as I watch every race , edge of seat...shouting at the TV , thinking to myself ( Just get the points Lewis..you dont have to win ..just beat Nico to the line ) .

I did in 2007/2008/etc when he was on the edge all the time but last year and this year have been pretty comfortable for him.

Same here. Its odd how views of drivers change over the years. I couldn't stand Alonso or Vettel when they were winning WDC's but put them in a less competitive car and it shows their real determination.

When Button retires, Alonso will be my driver to follow. I would never have said that 4-5 years ago.

Ive turned into a bit of a Vettle supporter since his move to Ferrari.. He has truly shown he is a good driver tbh..

I have a Christening to go to which is very annoying, I can't remember the last time I didn't watch a race live, I also don't want to hear some religious waffle, sadly it's at 2PM and I'll be in some trouble if I don't go, my request to move it to 3PM didn't go down well :p

Mobile phone + Sky Go + IEM's + sitting at the back. Solved. ;)

I have gotten away with this a few years back at a wedding when the F1 was on the BBC. :D

I said they had no chance this season long before the season started, that isn't my interest here.

If 2015 is just testing to help the car get better for 2016, then it's important that the updates made this year actually show improvement. The longer they don't and the more the updates don't gel with the predictions about the updates before they appear the worse it's going.

This is an indication of again poor reliability after Arai has said it's fixed. Now if they'd been faster in Spa after their upgrade or had made an announcement that they will use the same engine as they did during the Spa race here and wouldn't even need to use the second engine they opened in Spa that would be a good sign. Taking a third engine since the update at the start of the new race is the opposite, it's an extremely bad sign.

Put it this way, has even Renault let alone Ferrari or Merc taken and broken two new engine parts in a single race? Canada spec engine 2 cars, 2 races, 5 engines between them, zero finishes. They both finish one race on one new Canada spec engine and reliability is 'fixed'. New spec engine in Spa, take two each, Alonso already needs a new one for Monza... ouch.

Is Hamilton concentrating on qualifying pace more than the others? 40mins to go Practice1 and he is 1sec clear of Rosberg in second place!

Yeah that doesn't surprise me to be honest , Rosberg has no answer to anything Hamilton does he is in a different class , always has been .

Generally true, but he's not a second slower on a track with 6 corners.

They'll be testing different parts or different wing levels or engine modes or a combination of all 3.

wow, 1.5 seconds ahead of the rest of the field.

I know it's only FP1, fuel loads blah blah blah but it seems Merc just keep increasing their dominance.

Merc is ready for 2016 engine wise. Both McLaren and Honda need a slap.
Wonder if having a new born will slow Rosberg down?

Or speed him up? Might be an extra incentive to show someone he loves that Daddy is a world champion?
