Its fairly clear that this bill was brought in to make protesting about brexit harder, they have even been stockpiling riot gear and rubber bullets for it.
Hahaha.

probably the ones who would steal your ps5 more likelyAnd the people that broken the bones of the police are the ones that call 999 when their stolen PS5 gets stolen.
Well somehow all of the big ones under fire managed to deliver millions of bits of PPE. Quality suffered in favour of time and cost. Like every project in the world.
I'm just thankful we have folk who can shake a hand, make a call, and get billions of random bits of stuff delivered at a moments notice. Thank god we didn't need it.
Hahaha.
The Met police have tripled their spending on plastic bullets in a single year, according to figures seen by the Guardian.
The force spent more than £500,000 on the ammunition in 2017 – more than three times the average annual spend for the previous five years.
The figures have emerged amid growing fears about the potential for a no-deal Brexit to result in civil disorder. Last month, the Guardian learned that almost 1,000 police officers from England and Scotland were due to begin training for deployment in Northern Ireland in case of trouble in the event of no deal.
A freedom of information request by the Guardian revealed forces across the country have spent more than £8.2m on stocks over the past seven years, with spending dramatically increasing in the years after the 2011 riots.
The figures are based on the amounts paid to the Home Office for the provision of what are officially known as attenuating energy projectiles (AEPs). While they continue to be used by police in Northern Ireland, they have never been used by forces in Great Britain when confronted with street disorder.
Sources at the force said the AEPs had been acquired because there were more firearms officers in training, resulting in existing stocks expiring.

Is there any reason for gov to introduce this?

A lot of it is now stockpiled as the peak was reached, thankfully. Now regular supply chains and procurement processes are operating as they should. I was very close to a significant operation and it was amazing to see my colleagues do the impossible. Inspiring stuff.we didn’t need it? We didn’t have enough. Hospitals were woefully under resourced! What are you talking about?
...
It’s an authoritarian power grab to stop dissenting voices and prevent us underlings from exercising our democratic rights and arranging protests. They have made noisy protests illegal. It’s as daft as making cake, without flour, illegal. It can be done, but it’s a pointless waste of time.

I think you've deliberately misunderstood everything I said. The chaps I work with weren't ordering masks either, not sure they'd know where to get them from. Good chat thoughI was pretty close to front line, ICU, health professionals and they constantly said they didn’t have the correct equipment and when they did they didn’t have enough. I’m not really sure what you mean but I don’t think people ordering face masks is particularly inspiring. But, this probably isn’t the place for this.
You’re right that things seem better now, but the idea that there was a time where there was plenty PPE to go around in front line hospitals isn’t the reality when speaking to health professionals across the country who work in hospitals.

This is one of the main things I'm going to remember about this epidemic. The blatant and open procurement corruption that the Tories indulged in.So am I. Im very thankful we gave a 200 million pound contract to a jewellers for PPE and paid 20 + mil for someone to set the deal up.
Its a scam.
To shine a light on one of the greatest spending sprees in Britain’s postwar era, The New York Times analyzed a large segment of it, the roughly 1,200 central government contracts that have been made public, together worth nearly $22 billion. Of that, about $11 billion went to companies either run by friends and associates of politicians in the Conservative Party, or with no prior experience or a history of controversy. Meanwhile, smaller firms without political clout got nowhere.
Much of the PPE ordered couldn't be used as it didn't meet UK safety standards. You guys don't have a clue. A competitive tendering process with such a dynamic market? lol.
"Chaps you have 5 days to listen, 5 days to respond, 5 days to come to orals"... yeah right, hundreds would be dead already.
And by the way, awarding a contract doesn't mean cash left the bank. There is a thing called a Goods Receipt and Invoice Receipt as part of a 3 way match. Whilst source to contract may have been expedited allowing quality escapes, no one is getting paid unless something is delivered.
I look forward to the review of govt spending when this is all over, and I sincerely hope heads roll.
