It's snowing

Third snow day this week for my school in Stoke, its not the snow anymore but the danger to kids around the building because of ice. The council has refused to grit our paths and car park as they only have enough for main roads.

Chance of us opening tomorrow I would say are slim to none as the ice is not going to go away.

Local secondary here hasnt shut all week, easily 6 plus inches here plus ice, minus nine last night.

A little bit of winter weather isn't going to do any harm.

It was heavy at about five last night, hailstones and snow at the same time, crazy stuff.

So they closed the school because they're scared kids might fall over on snow and ice?

I swear some of these people have never seen a child.

We had snow many times when I was a kid and I don't remember the schools ever closing? Have we all gone soft these days.

Unfortunately I think the blame and claim culture is part to blame. If a school were to stay open during bad Ice and Snow and some children fell over and injured themselves then the school would be leaving themselves open to claims.

It shouldn't happen but it does, been in several situations when parents put all blame on the school for things that are the kids own fault for silly behaviour. No one wants to take responsibility for their own actions and it is something schools have to deal with these days.

We had about 3cm from about 12.00-15.00 y'day, but today is the first real thime we've had proper snow since a few of weeks ago when we got loads.

Colchester. We had several inches yesterday morning (from around 7am) for a few hours. We've had more this morning although not as heavy.

Ahh yeah, apparently it was pretty bad in Colchester. But i was told that past Great Horksley, there was much less.

Forecast for up here, NE, looks nasty tommorrow, been home for five weeks now and all I've seen is snow snow snow.
