Impressive picture of Newcastle there. I'm from there myself, but I always seem to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I live right out in the west end, but where my parents live (about 6 miles south of city centre in North Durham), there were hailstones the size of golf balls, and in one village about a mile further south than that, most cars that were outside were damaged including broken windscreens.
Unfortunately, I could only look on from the distance as it just seemed to mostly pass me by with a few lightning bolts and overall, the storm wasn't as good as I would have liked where I was.
Then there was the other storm but I missed most of that as I was in bed, wor lass woke me up though as she was frightened

It did seem fairly impressive that one, although quite intimidating in a way being in the middle of the night and the regularity of the lightning was not something I've seen here for quite a while (was almost more like a tropical storm - I've seen a few in my time).
I also missed all the fun of Thunder Thursday in 2012 (locals will know about this). I was working in South Shields so I didn't see much really, so it was unbelievable to see it later on TV. Also, some flats at the bottom of my bank actually ended up having to be demolished as the water tore away the foundations from underneath!
As for the heat, the walk to work in this morning was horrendous. Humid, warm, no shade and no breeze and I'm not someone who takes kindly to warm temperatures as it is.
