It's too hot :(

I think it’s selfish myself.

Total disregard for others, especially children.
I guess it depends on your veiw of the power of wishes I. e can the collective wishes of say 100 forum members actually change the weather, my betting is they can't, if wishes were this powerful there would be a sweedish nimphomaniac sat here with me on my tea break ;)

Looks like the met office are predicting very warm to hot weather in the south towards the middle and end of the month.

Fingers crossed.

Cold and rainy for the rest of us then.

The second we truly have this pandemic under control I'm going to be taking the longest holiday I've ever had.

Feels like Southampton got transported to Ferenginar recently, or I fell into a coma and it's now autumn... So much rain. :(

From a UK perspective that seems pretty unfathomable, surely beyond 40c it's just plain uncomfortable. Speaking of which I wonder how long before England breaks its record temp of 38.7c?

I've been to Furnace Creek when it wasn't quite that hot but more like 45-50 - definitely uncomfortable, when in the daytime sun uncovered at all especially. But outside of that I wouldn't say 50 degrees there feels that much worse than 35+ does here, the biggest difference was probably that it didn't really get much cooler at all at night (which I thought it would do, being a desert)

Remember when shops had those heater fans above the entrances running in winter? 55°C is like standing under one of those. With very low humidity, it’s not too bad in short doses if you drink water the whole time you’re outside. You can actually feel the air sucking moisture out of your body.

Oh come off it, it never gets hot enough here to not be able to sleep without some adjustments, unless possibly if you’re obese.

Sure, because it's not an issue for you, it's obviously not an issue for anyone else. Seems pretty selfish to me, total disregard for others, especially children.

Besides, it's well known that temperature decreases with altitude, so it's probably a lot cooler up there on your horse

It depends on a lot of things, I lived in a flat once that would be into the 30s even at night as there were only windows on one side. And I remember as a (non obese) kid not being able to sleep on many an occasion when it was too hot. My kids are the same.

Glad it's OK for you in your flat and that you can make "adjustments" that work.

I cannot sleep if it's too hot. Opening the windows or using a fan makes too much noise [depends where you live, you see]. Even with ear plugs the noise keeps me awake. We don't have air con. Some people just have to suck it up.

I don’t live in a flat. I live in a semi detached in the hottest part of the country. My bedroom temps never drop below 27 at night. Got myself a decent fan and a 4.5 tog duvet and have no problems.
