It's too hot :(

Torrencial rain this am, then just mild damp and windy, had a fun bodyboard but had to use a non west facing beach

Probably the heaviest rain I've ever seen in SE London at the moment. Absolutely lashing it down. Everything just looks grey and dark.

Tell me about it, I’m in Rotherhithe, and I had visions of seeing the Ark float by at lunchtime, either that or the Thames to travel the 75 metres to my house and begin to seep under the garage door.
I’m hoping that it won’t start up again, as we’re taking my son and daughter-in-law to a French restaurant this evening, in Islington, and I’d rather not arrive like a drowned rat.
Parapluies prêts je suppose!

Yup. Leukaemia. Advice from my consultant since 'freedumb day' is to stay away from crowds indoors until we know more even though I'm vaccinated. No clue as to when we will know more, hopefully soon I guess.

Ah bugger. :(

I feel for you dude. Sorry to hear that. Hope you get to get away soon.

I have a large backlog of books to keep me company and entertained for a while, but the second getting on a plane is as risky as pre-covid (or close enough) I'm headed on a long trip to Asia. I love Asia, and I really miss it.

Good choice. And well done for your resilience. Says a lot about your strength of character. Fingers crossed for you.

Thanks. Things haven't been too bad during the pandemic in all honesty as I've been lucky to be able to stay at home.

Only worrying moment came at the beginning of July when my partner tested positive. Guess the vaccines worked their magic as her symptoms were mild and I never caught it.

Why is the weather so bad this year...can't really remember a summer like it (apart from that one years ago where it rained forever) especially sucks given how hard it is to travel at the moment.

It isn't just this year in my neck of the woods. In the last decade I think we've had maybe 2 decent summers. Outside of that it has been dreadful, where June-Aug just feel like a warmer day in May.

If I could sum up our summers it would be this.

Temperature below average
Sunlight below average.
Rainfall average.
Daily maximums so suppressed they're usually only 2-3c above our minimums.

Cue the the theme tune from Twilight Zone, with Rod Serling and Greta Thunberg duetting
Jim Diamond’s “I should have known better”, or Randy Travis’s “I told you so.”

21c upstairs, probably ~19c downstairs, i feel like i should put the heating on for a while yet it's the begining of August wtf?

You’re not on your own, but putting it on in August goes against the psychological grain, you know that you want to do it, but are convinced that a plague of locusts will descend on you if you hit the on switch.

Even when i turn it on later in the year, my thermostat is at like 16c. I find if the home is too warm then when outside you really feel freezing cold all the time.

I gave my heating a blast yesterday ,i rebuilt my oil boiler myself and know if left dormant all summer its asking for problems (well with mine anyway ,diverter valve work out and circulate inhibiter) also ran my humidifier at the same time ,went from 19c to 24c
Edit / waiting to go in at work so board, my grass (not bamboo) ) and Worlds fastest growing tree (actually is) going mental at maybe
13 ft, all this rain

Blame rob - whenever I take an interest in the weather over summer it goes to ****.

Aside from that 1 week it has been one of the worst I can remember for just miserable weather - if it isn't wet and miserable it is this weird humid dead stagnant air where the slightest physical exertion leaves you feeling yuck.
