It's too hot :(

I'm sat out in the sun again.

It's pretty warm but like yesterday still a bit of a breeze.

Probably not going to spend as long as I did yesterday but should get a good hour and a half in/2 hours maybe.

I'm watering the potted trees everyday.

I don't know if I'm imagining it but the garden oak tree looked 'wilted' today. It may be fine. But it is fairly isolated from other trees so bears the full heat.

Grass is really browning. The wild part of the garden looks nearly Dead. Only the indestructible ragwort looks good!

I had to water all the plants outside twice over the last two nights with this heat or they'd be blown dry by lunchtime. They seem to have exploded with so much growth in this heat and water.

It's quite cool up there, now it's all down the clearing up is losing me a few pounds in this heat :) (No bad thing....)

In the sun back garden:

In the shade and upstairs it's high thirties, the conservatory is 42degC IN THE SHADE WITH WINDOWS OPEN and the living room is 27degC.

I see, can understand with the heat, but at the same time though others are still working outside, they normally stroll round in shorts, t-shirt and hat anyway and are finished by the time its the hottest part of the day, so not sure what the big deal for them not working is.
Also they tend to drive in a air con van

Freeballing, if you will.

so for those with portable A/C units, what do you do with the exhaust hose? The window kit supplied with ours is designed for sash windows, not casemates like we have. Did you have to bodge something up to fit it?

Not very glamorous but a big bit of cardboard taped to the window frames with a bit at the bottom cut out for the hose. Then a few towels to cover the pipe and reduce heat leakage into the room. It's working wonders.

uncomfortable as the fan was just spreading warm air around.

We have two windows in in the bedroom - the fan sits blowing out of one. The idea is that rather than have the fan mix the warm and cold air, the fan blows the hot/humid air out and the cool air is pulled in through the other window which is next to the bed. It also stops mosquitos as they home in on CO2 so the fan blows that hard away from the house and the mosquitoes have to cope with the fan blades. The CO2 doesn't go out of the other window so no mosquitoes are attracted through there. A little noisy but with the door closed the room cools quick.

I've managed to make it to lunch time, been out all morning watering and general gardening.
Just a slog trying to do anything.
Supposed to be doing some strimming this afternoon but no chance, wait until Friday for that.
Luckily no one is here so I'm taking plenty of breaks.
5 more hours until home time, home to the 32.5 bedroom last night, can't wait to see how it is tonight.
