It's too hot :(

Almost every scientist who studies this stuff would disagree with you. I know who I choose to believe.
To be fair they would though. It's like saying that the authority on the question of "Does god exist?" should be priests because they are the 'experts on god'. Yet they also clearly have a vested interest in the answer being yes.

I'm not a climate change denier/sceptic, I'm just pointing out that personal vested interest often stands in the way of the truth and/or progress. See the train strikes a while ago where one of the demands from the staff was 'no moderinsation on the railways'.

No one will make themselves redundant.

And the fact that pretty much all the climate scientists are saying that if we don't sort it out very soon it will be catastrophic. The world is a ecosystem and when that collapses its going to be catastrophic. It will be like a house of cards. The world will go on turning but life as we know it will get very hard and lets be honest, until the rich and powerful are suffering, nothing will truly be done.

Yeah I'm convinced we are doomed. Humans and our current society. This is something you can't leave to the last minute. So many cities will be underwater. UK will suffer a lot. Think of how many people are at flood risk for a start.

As always. We will dawdle. Wait until its too late. Blame the precious government. Say "in hindsight" or some excuse.

The heatwave of 76, had average temps 7 degrees lower than heatwaves we have today. 7 degrees makes a massive difference. Excess deaths went up by 30% during the 76 heatwave, 56% during the 2003 heatwave. Hoe many people are going to die if 40C heatwaves become the norm in the UK?
Was going to say, the main trait people from the 1970's have is selective memories :p

1970s folk though were much tougher and just got on with it, today most people struggle with heatwaves, especially freakishly hot in the 40s, my dad worked in a freezer unit at a turkey factory with gloves on during the 70s and doesn't even remember the heatwave of 76 lol, love to be in a freezer now, it would be heaven to need gloves on.

You say that but I don't see any records for that time, all records are recent

'I'm not a climate denier but I'm going to present you with this garbage anyway'...

They only say this stuff so they don't lose their funding, right?

The god comparison is just bizarre, climate change is based on science, religion is based on belief.

One would hope that if it was "the norm" then we would adapt, similar to countries where 40 degree temperatures are already the norm in the summer. I guess we have those high deaths in heatwaves for precisely the reason that its NOT the norm, so logic would say that many of the deaths are because we do not take the right precautions or behave in the right way.

Having said that, humans (especially Brits :D ) are notoriously bereft of logic so maybe it would make no difference to us if it was the norm :)

I gave you another example as well. The point remains, people won't make themselves redundant, and anyone who works in an industry has a vested interest in the industry continuing, regardless of what it is.

I do believe human behaviour contributes to global warming, the extent of which is where there is still debate.

This is derailing the thread though! So I will leave it there.

Sadly all the warnings put out seem to have been mocked by a large proportion of the UK, led by stations like GBNews instead of people taking notice.

Indeed it could be planned for but its the speed of the change. We would have to change working habits, build all new houses with aircon, white walls and roofs, mover over to a Mediterranean way of life, all within a single generation and at massive expense. Who's paying?
