It's too hot :(

Im just waiting for the bed wetting, soy latte drinking lunatics to start shrieking cLiMaTe ChAnGE when we mysteriously have thunder storms after a period of hot weather.
I’m sure at some point Brexit will be mentioned as well.
At least we haven't got our heads so deep in the sand that we can see China (I don't wet the bed and nor do I drink that filthy concoction, I'll leave that to the denialists  ).

What make is it, does it cost lots to run it? the cost of them and the hassle with something stuck out the windows, we have odd shaped windows, doubt it will work on the bedroom windows.

it is a Netta 10000 btu unit with a pipe that goes from the unit and hangs outside my bedroom window a few inches, a second waste pipe goes from the unit to a coke bottle to collect the water run off, cost me £370, it runs around 1100w full power, tbh i just live with the costs and just pay what we use, it gets expensive but i need to be cool, it not used all the time though i must stress

I would love one some day, hate the heat, but also struggling paying bills without AC so hoping we get some cheaper energy some day, not holding my breath though.

That doesn't sound too bad at that price, has this price gone up much this year with energy price hike, does it cool your home down much though with just being on 3 hours?

I'm constantly in a tug of war with my wife. She's one of those "open all the windows, there's a nice breeze" which just makes the house the same temp as outside, and I want to keep everthing closed and use fans. That's despite the house being ~10c cooler on one of the rare occasions I got my own way. I just can't get through to her

Well it was 13p not too long ago
I have a ghetto mod going on right now but i can bring in down to about 25
Less that 1 hour brings the temp down 2 till 5pm today i can work with it was just on for 3 yesterday
On average 6/7 hours it would be on for

Yeah some people just can't seem to get the keep out the sun and windows shut tip, if you do open curtains though and direct sunlight is in for a while then you might as well open your windows if a breeze is there to get air flowing through the rooms, so two annoying options live in next to darkness inside or get your windows open, for us lots of loud neighbours and lots of barking dogs.

On the final afternoon of Heatwave II, I've not long discovered that a cycling baselayer drenched in cool tap water and then worn is absolute bliss!

30.5C in the lounge, 32C on the weather station just up the road, one or two stations dotted around currently 35C.

We've just had blinds fitted which make keeping the sun out but, at the same time allowing some light through to see with

Only 27.5c indoors here but it’s really unpleasant. Feels humid even though the hygrometer only says 50%.

Yeah I was checking out yesterday a quora page how people kept their houses cool in Spain, Italy and Greece, some good photos of various blinds that are popular with these countries. Also they have really thick white walls in some houses and they really shade their backyards and use this as a living room with trees and plants above them to get shaded areas to sit. Also a guy from Italy said most low income families have AC and said they were cheap even good quality inverter units.

Wish we did more with external shutters in this country, would do a better job of keeping the sun out full stop.

Live in a new build so heat through windows works like a greenhouse, and direct sunlight heats the house up nicely.

Only about 5 days so far less than last year
What it cost is secondary to keeping me cool
It's a factored in on my annuel energy useage so it ok
wow really, good going, I thought this summer has been miles hotter than last year, certainly has up north east way with us, we rarely get many days pushing 30 never mind in the 30+ range

Yeah we need to rethink the way we build, our climate is looking like it will be so much hotter, just like a sauna today indoors with me, wish I lived in a cave
