I can't wait to move to west Wales. The sea looks like this. It's beautiful and never gets old.

Yeah it's going to be a return to weather we usually get come weekend. Boo! But it is needed.

Obviously I love meteorology. Being so outdoorsy I'm always watching the extended stuff by met office.

I saw a graphic where by the UK has flipped last month or two. Where by the south east has had the north west's weather and vice versa. I certainly noticed it. Lived in Wales for 4.years now (wow time flies) and it really isn't wet like everyone told me before I moved. But since summer actually started in may it's been relentless.

If (and it's possible) we miss rain in my part, may end up hitting 50 days without rain!

How do hotter countries like Spain, Italy and Greece store water, do they have water shortages.
think other countries get more water from converting sea water to drink water ( desalination )

spain has around 800 or so desalination plants that it uses

sadly it’s more expensive but at least it’s more reliable than waiting for rain that is becoming more scarce

I think as a country this droughts are going to get worse and worse each year. We really need to start thinking about our water infrastructure

Thanks for the info, it would make sense to convert sea water for sure and invest in that.

You do.

Having lived in Cardiff, I can confirm it is warmer and drier than the valleys.

In spring, if you drive from Cardiff, up caerphilly road and over caerphilly mountain, you can see the difference in which trees and plants are in blossom. Cardiff sees the blossom a few weeks earlier, on average.

Just put the order in for blinds in my house that I've been long overdue for. Thermal honeycomb ones. I'm intrigued how much of a difference they'll make, but it should be noticeable. Just bought another fan too, so I have one downstairs blowing up, and this one will sit in the computer room, exhausting air out the window. In the morning when the air is nice and cool, I open the kitchen door and put the fan in front to blow all that nice cool air in too :) It probably makes no difference really, but it's certainly refreshing for a brief moment.

It's lovely today, baking hot outside and about 22c in my room, as the sun is just coming around to hit it.

For some reason the local jackdaws have decided to have a squawking competition. This usually means the buzzards are about, but I can't see any.

I woke up this morning after having the windows open all night and it started today at 22C, it only goes one way from there when the sun kicks in, min 25+ in this weather by late afternoon.

Ah, it is 2.55.

This means people are now arriving in their cars for 3.30 school pick up (school is 30m from.my house).

Therefore, they are now sitting there with their engines running for the next 40 minutes.

JUST WHY???

Gotta keep the air con running, but yeah, that's extremely wasteful.

Theres an outside chance of thunderstorm sunday god knows we need it
Looks like the hose pipe bans are kicking in.
Its being applied here very soon water company asked people to use water only if absolutely necessary, demand actually went up I keep expecting to the taps to run dry any day now parts of the county have been without water for a week or more one school has had bowsers delivered and staff have to stand by with buckets to flush toilets etc

Infrastructure really is the problem housing is mushrooming everywhere some towns have had a 13% increase in population over the last few years but infrastructure has not projects are mired in red tape they've been arguing about a new reservoir since the 1970's! Houses go up quick infrastructure does not it probably hasn't changed since the 80's theres enough water apparently they just can't distribute it to where its needed or rather where demand has skyrocketed
