It's too hot :(

Suddenly the flat turned very nippy during another shower in the last 20mins, had make a cup of instant vegan malt drink and grab a windproof light jacket to get my torso warm again!

Been torrential rain here pretty steadily from about 11:30am or so onwards despite the forecast being light rain showers aside from thundery showers for a patch in the afternoon. Absolutely hammering it down currently.

Hopefully clears up later in the week as I've some jobs I want to do outside.

Just started raining here too, also not in the forecast.

How many vegans are ground up for each drink?

Jesus 2023 and we still have climate change deniers on this board.

Certainly doesn’t feel like it’s going to be a really hot summer compared to last year.
climate changes all the time .. it's the bogus push for renewables and the lies that the earth is at it's hottest when clearly it's not that i'm against ..

I think the issue is that there are all sorts of fudge factors used to try and account for things like increasing urban heat island effects, declining foliage levels and the like.

Even the record hot day last year is dubious as it occurred at a weather station adjacent to an RAF runway whilst three Typhoons were apparently landing.
40c+ was recorded at 6 different weather stations. Its not dubious at all, it was crazy hot.

Still nice and cool here, I know it wont last all of July, but will take it while its like this.

Nights are especially nice.

Room temp currently 20.9C very low for July.

First time bedroom has been above 20 degrees all week. Got to 24.5 last night.
Currently 23.5 inside and 12 outside.
See if it can top last years 35.5.

I’m not disputing it was hot, but my point is they don’t help themselves with the way it’s reported (also the link says they are all provisional temperatures rather than verified).

Do you not think we should be going for renewable energy?
if you look at the real cost .. ie: you still need coal/gas petrol diesel to make and transport these things (wind turbines) the up keep and then to get rid only after a short lifetime (10-15 yrs) no not wind (never mind how much it has increased our bills ).. solar with the next generation yes .. Geothermal.. even better .. greedy people make the worst choices there in it for profit ..

yes but if you decrease the reliance on fossil fuels that can only be a good thing surely?

You might have to still use fossil fuels for several decades if not another century or more, but if you need less of them they'll necessarily last longer - and buy us time to come up with better sources of energy that don't destroy the earth.

That said I agree that things like cobalt, lithium etc... the mining for those isn't very "green"... however if it delays or offsets the current issues long enough to buy us time and have a more immediate positive impact then I think that's valid. That said, there is a lot of virtue signalling about EVs and other things - I mean I've got solar panels and battery storage at home, I did it predominantly to be less reliant on the grid and use less gas, I happen to make a little cash from it, but ultimately I also reduce my bills significantly. That said the sustainability side of thing was the primary draw.

This is the same reason many buy EVs. Less reliant on fossil fuels and saves a lot of money after the upfront cost.

Tell me your vegan without telling me your.... Oh wait, can vegans actually manage that?:cry:
I'm not, my better half is, but she isn't keen on this vegan horlicks-a-like while I don't mind a cup.

You will be thrilled to know I enjoyed two cold scotch eggs as snacks during the evening, one didn't feel like a substantial meal.

Anyway, when I finally went to bed it was a chilly 11C "feels like 9C" because of the wind, now a much more pleasant 16C.
