It's too hot :(

Go now. You'll get a lovely breeze.
Sadly no breeze in Southampton, so we had an early dinner and then I waited for the temps to drop...

And waited and waited, finally had to head out at 1910 to get a ~45mins ride in before it went pitch black, with it still being 27C! :(

Soaked a sleeveless baselayer in cold tap water and put that under my cycling jersey, worked a treat until the final ~10mins.

That's fair, although I think sometimes having limits/boundaries for kids can be a good thing...this is coming from someone with no kids so what do I know? :p My nieces/nephews are brought up with absolutely no boundaries, not even allowed to say no to them so they pretty much do what they want.

When I was a kid there was an elderly couple who seemingly hated kids, hated us playing football in the road and actually took my football so I always try to not be the miserable old neighbour!

Sometimes it would be nice if the kids were a bit quieter though

Oh back in the UK it's different we ensure they're a bit more subdued. They understand the difference between open cultures and more stick in the mud ones. And that's the joy of the world, there's idiosyncrasies everywhere to learn about and enjoy.

You see conversely to you the run ins with old people I had back home was along the lines of "be careful" or "do you want a hot chocolate"..

It wasn't until I came to the UK that I realised kids were often shunned as bothersome. I don't get that. Even before I had kids I found the concept weird, however I do understand that's just a cultural difference rather than it being actual dislike for younger generations.

May not break the record for highest but +30c for 7 days in a row apparently will

Boss let me go home early its just too hot for work outside age doesn't help either I can see why the old folks keel over in the heat starting to feel it now

Yeah certainly looking like that record isn't it 5 days in row we had in 1911 think I heard.

Yeah I dunno some oldies get colder easier when they get older, my dad is getting on now and he used to never feel the cold like me and not like the extreme hot weather much, but now he's cold when his house is like a sauna to go in.

I'm so uncomfortable! I have windows WIDE open, fan directed right at me, I've resorted wearing a wet T-shirt. Its still disgustingly hot. THIS IS ****!!!
Summer can suck my *****!!! Give me wind and cold drizzle! I dont mind wearing a jacket!

Looks likely that Monday onward will break the heatwave at least.
Million percent, its like all day not a cloud in the sky here just the sun beaming down like in a mad July day, the comes to night clouds over tries a pathetic attempt to rain and now its not dropping and still 22c , I guess it will be the warmest September night I've ever known. worst thing is tomorrow night is equally as bad it says.

I know lots of places down south have had it warm on a night so hats off to them, you forget just how it feels as this is the first insane hot night this year for me.

I've been on Salisbury plain all week, barely a breeze, beaming sun, in a hollow that just traps sun and moisture, with no shelter from the sun. Its like i've been in a sauna all week. I'm cooked, burnt to hell, brain frazzled. I've been guzzling water by the liter. I'm sweating more than I ****. I ******** feel for the lads who have had to stay out on the plain all week they must be suffering. I've had the benefit of being able to go home every night. I feel guilty for complaining, but at the same time I dont care this sucks ****.

Some ace lightning out to the East from our window. Looks like its over Burnley into the West Yorkshire border. Like a Greek storm lots of lightning, no thunder and no rain but red hot still 23 celcius 94% humidity.
