iTunes Match is live...

Might be worth getting the latest iTunes and giving iTunes Match another run-through!

iTunes 10.6 adds the ability to play 1080p HD movies and TV shows from the iTunes Store.

This release also includes many improvements for iTunes Match, including:

o Improved song matching

o Improved album artwork handling, downloading, and display

o Addresses an issue where songs may skip when playing from iCloud

Downloading now, Hopefully it may solve a few of the issues I am having with metadata and artwork syncing up to iCloud and down to my iPhone.

Still having lots of problems (after itunes and ios updates) with playlists not syncing or updating properly which means I have the same playlists on different devices but each one has different contents. Tracks download but occasionally stall and then cant be restarted or deleted. Not all artwork has been downloaded. Updated and turned match on and off plenty of times but not joy. Seems metadata is still not being reliably synced across devices/up to the cloud.

Pretty much written the service off now (for me).

Hi,

if you upgrade to 5.1 iOS watch out as there is a new setting for Match to use cellular data, it is switched on by default, I managed to use 70MB in 30 mins.

Settings > Music > Use Cellular data, change that to off.

Cheers.

Have to agree. While what Apple got from the music labels is incredible, and its implentation is mostly there, it isn't perfect. This service needed to be perfect otherwise it turns you off instantly.

My main issue is they knew back in November that the service was replacing explicit tracks with clean versions (although it seems odd NOBODY at Apple realised this was happening while creating the service). It's now March and they still haven't fixed it.

I had quite the opposite and have had my 'clean' version matched with the Explicit version when downloaded on my iPhone.

Frustratingly it had removed some random tracks and only kept some tracks which I have downloaded

the art work was annoying me but after a few days of having match my iPhone actually displays most of my artwork, its annoying it didn't match and I had to spent 2 days uploading tracks, but hey its nice to be able to get access to all my music on the move
