Ive upgraded my CPU 4 times in the past 5 years

From a Core i9-7900X to my current i9 10940X

Changed motherboard twice

Main thing is gaming on a 4090 with 2 screens, using one only at a time, 4k or 1440p

my current performance on my hardware isn't great, looking at benches people are getting way better frames.

So looking at the CPU page and thinking its either a 19 1300KF or a AMD Ryzen 9 7950X - these are the current best CPUs for gaming yes?

Anyone else move from LGA 2066?

Seen the roadmap for Intel/AMD -- or is it worth waiting?

this?

Its not out yet , should give price and release date at CES
3D V-Cache variant of the Ryzen 7000 series processors

AMD CEO Expected to Announce Zen 4 X3D, RDNA3 GPUs at CES Opening Keynote
The keynote will be live-streamed on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. from the Venetian.

ahh ok that makes sense now

though, what is the Intel equivalent to this? I mean if someone was more of an intel fan.

Why did you buy a relatively slow single core speed 14 core CPU for gaming? It's good to understand how you're making your purchasing decisions.

I doubt there are many benches comparing your CPU/GPU combo so how are you deciding whether your FPS are within spec?

You definitely don't need to make any more money wasting mistakes so do as suggested and wait for the Zen4 X3d chips.

the main reason why i got the LGA2066 was because of the lanes, I need the lanes it offers as I have a internal sound card and a AX wifi 6 card as well as the multiple ssd's and m.2s ect

I also used it for work but now its used primarily for gaming, ive had a look at framerates on games at 4k and 144p and my frames are way lower than the average, which I blame my CPU

So thats why Ive decided to get a faster CPU, but I need to get the right one either intel or AMD, the 12th gen looks promising because of the low price, but the 13th gen just performs better,

then you have AMD 7th series and the upcoming 7th series with 3D V-Cache, so its either buy now with whats available or wait till 1st quarter of next year

Intel also has new stuff releasing but they are being very quiet about it

my google research shows its gonna be Arrow Lake Z890 LGA 1851 8p +32e cores q1 2023, that will be vs AMD 7th series with 3D V-Cache

so its either 12th or 13th gen now or wait and go 14th gen Z890, or wait a bit more n go for LGA2066 successor

Saying Intel are in trouble makes it sounds like they've released an 11th gen desktop again, or a Bulldozer-like chip. :D I think both are in OK places at the moment, but we'll see when the refreshes come out.

Intel are releasing 13th gen chips with even higher power requirements to try and keep up with Zen 7000 3d series. Intel 4 node has also been delayed until at least the end of next year so sounds like a Bulldozer moment to me.

if primary gaming just wait see what 3D V-Cache 7000 is about I would be surprised if it doesnt take the gaming crown , and its the next product to be released , intel have 13900ks but doubt thats gonna be much better to what they currently have for gaming and it will use more power also with AMD will have option of zen5 and zen5 3d on the same socket
I might be tempted to jump on AM5 when 3D V-Cache is out for it but probably be at premium price :( guess we should find out next week
