Ive upgraded CPU 3 times in 4 years, what to upgrade to now?

I also went with a X670E-F. Reason being the combination of price and the fact that there doesn’t seem to be any compromises when populating all the Nvme slots/SATA/main PCIE slot. It also has a pretty decent VRM specification.

Biggest gripe is a lack of code readout but so be it - I did look at the X670E-E, but it’s a massive amount of money and at that point you might as well go for the Hero. But I couldn’t see the point in spending another 250+ to get there over the Strix F. Plus the Hero really feels like it should have a backplate for the money it costs, and I think design wise it isn’t as good as Asus Intel offerings. I could live with the somewhat plainer Strix F when taking its price in to account.

Also waiting for the 7800x3d to go with it…
the other thread stating there is a delay for the X3D chips

also would u not prefer saving 25% n get the current chip non 3d

7800 to 7900 and 7950 has lowered in price, so that saving vs the extra 10FPS makes sense to save a couple of hundred quid vs the 3D offering, no?

not much love for Intel in here?? yet the 13900K is the fastest gaming cpu right now. The V 3D chips may or may not close the gap but nobody knows for sure yet. In this vid the cpu's are set up similar 5.5mhz cpu and 6000mhz mems, Some games can benefit from faster memory especially where the FPS are high. With this in mind considering 13th gen intel can stretch its legs to 8000mhz and beyond, pairing with a 4090 i wouldn't want anything else. But your not going to tell much difference with either. Me personally i'd always go with the Nvidia/Intel pairing over the AMD side.

If its only for gaming I would strongly suggest waiting for x3d due in February so not long

7800x3d will out perform 7900x and 7950x in gaming and likely cost less and use less power
i was under the impression the more powerful the CPU the better framerates, no?

Also I have 2x m.2, 2x SSd and 3x7200rpm 30TB mechanical drives for storage

Also use an intrernal sound card and a internal wifi6 adaptor

current board restricts n cancels out PCIe lanes if u hook up to many drives, so kind of wanting to avoid the same issue

but the word is the 7950X3D will obliterate the 13th gen intel chips, in gaming and other use

Also no PCie lane restrictions or is that motherboard related?....

I wanna see what DDR5 and PCIe gen5 can do vs my current set up.

Productivity yes gaming no

Look at the 5800x3d look at what it does at productivity and games

It's behind much more powerful CPUs in productivity once it comes to gaming it's right next to them

If you only gonna game I don't see why you buy 7900 or 7950x over the 7800x3d

Or, as Tech. Jesus always correctly states, just buy a 7600 (non-X) or a 13500 and stop stressing. Spend the saved money on your (overpriced, atm) graphics card.

true but I think he wants the ultimate for gaming only, so 7800x3d would be my choice over 7950x / 7950x3d

Depending on the price, a 12900k or a 13700k with some fast ddr5 and you are good to go. Amd has nothing to touch a 12900k with 7600 ram, and I don't see the new 3ds changing that.

here we go again :) dont see the point of either 12900k or 13700k which I see going for £449.99, of course need to wait for reviews but would be surprised if the 7800x3d doesnt overall wins in gaming while sucking less power
oh yeah forgot to add you'll also have option of zen5 / zen 5 3d and maybe beyond

Anyways, if someone with a zen 4 posts a video running cp2077 or spiderman we can see how big the gap is between zen 4 and ald, god forbod rpl, and then it gets kinda obvious that the 3d has a huge gap to close.

just wait for the 3D cpu`s if buying new.

although in a blind test my eyes would never see any difference even if it was 4D and was sent back from the future to crush all current CPU`s.

I'd be very suprised if the new 3D chips dont win out overall in number of different games not just few cherry picked ones also the power usage will be interesting to see
