Jaaaaaag Owners

Nice. Good to hear your thoughts. Never did launch right and needed a halo car a with touch more power than the 380bhp S variant.

Massive uplift in the interior and electrical system at 21MY was then ruined by covid and 4 cylinder only engine options.

To be honest, I wasn't a fan when they first came to market. I was shopping around to replace the G30 and nipped in to test drive the facelifted XF. My other half commented on the XE which was leaps ahead of the ones I remember so after a fair bit of reading and watching review videos, I headed back the following week to test drive.

Although the model is getting a bit long in the tooth, I prefer the styling over what the other brands are doing, tablet dashboards and so on. With a view of getting something to keep longer term, the SE trim offered everything I wanted in terms of equipment. The D200 suits me, it's ample enough and helps with the monthly motorway trips down south for client visits. It might be me but the engine feels quieter and more refined than the pre-facelift, as much as you can get from a 4 cylinder diesel. It's also quite nice that you never seen any on the road.

It's been less than a week but I'm thinking of every excuse to take it out which I've never had with a car before.

Those photos show one of the things that frustrated me about Jags dealerships (aside from awful service). They couldn't even mop the damn floor!

Don't get me started on the service! :o I did notice the floors but nipped in myself during working hours so was only really concerned with getting the car handed over. I was more critical of the buggy phone lines, lack of communication and updates, sales chap was good but getting a hold of him was next to impossible, even trying to get the deal over the line in the first place.

Project 8 called :D

I wouldn't be surprised if that's the actual plate either. When I went to get my XE they put the wrong reg on

Has anyone noticed the list price of these cars lately?

They are now considerably cheaper than all of the competition - the cheapest version is just £33k list price and for this you get a 200bhp diesel with adaptive cruise control and electric memory seats. If you want a BMW 3 Series of the same power and specification, even a basic version without some of that specification is over £43k and by the time you've added the seats and the adaptive cruise you are well over £45k, which is more expensive than the top of the range Jaguar with 300bhp!

These are huge price differences. I went from wondering why anyone would buy one of these to wondering why more people don't. I think the 3 Series is a better car, but the price difference is so significant I am not sure this is relevant. There must be almost no competition for them at this price.

I think they are missing something in the marketing as I doubt many people realise how cheap they are new now compared with the competition.

What else can you get new for £33k these days?

I'm surprised to hear this from Mr BMW himself! But yeah jags represent good value at the moment. I think it's the JLR reliability reputation that is probably driving prices down

Yep, I did briefly look at new G20's and side by side (at least price wise) you can't argue. Off the top of my head, mines has adaptive cruise, Meridian, memory seats, blind spot assist, wireless charging, keyless entry, heated windscreen and the all important folding rear seats... for what I believe is less than the base model 3 series...

Have you noticed how many new XEs are on the road? They are almost non-existent. JLR don't even offer them on Privilege anymore.

Is it not because they've got all the build slots booked up for a finite amount of variations in order to make way for an all electric line up? Sales guy said the staff all wanted one but got landed with Volvos :D

If they have, there must be next to nil build slots. I think I see 1 new one for every 100 old XEs.

when do we see the cabin shot - real leather and the meridian blessed hifi sounds good - whats the equaliser like
I hadn't realised these have the superior wishbone suspension too (after johnny previously discussed it's presence on ipace) - one over the bmw

mpg will be interesting to hear.

e: and Lee how's your mpg, made up for by the sound

A touch older is a sweeter spot for spec so keep an eye on that. The MY21 has 360 surround camera as standard. Then HUD and Matrix are a risk on MY22. If you get interested in any feel free to drop me a VIN and I can look at all the history and spec.

Huge number of ex Arval employee leases coming up on OE/OW. Later manager cars have move to KR/KT prefix’s. Real glut of them in the used market so ideal as a buyer.

Haven’t had a chance to take any decent pictures due to the horrendous weather but I’ll definitely get some and share my thoughts, I think it’s worthwhile in this case given how little exposure these cars get.

I’m doing around 500 miles this week so I’ll report back on the mileage, too :D
