January Transfer Window 2012/2013 Season Rumours/Signings

SSN reporting Arsenal have agreed a fee with Malaga for Monreal. Now would be nice if we can also sign a decent RB so we can boot Sagna to the scrapheap :p

£8.5 mill fee from what's being said on SSN.

Because of Gibbs' injury yesterday.

Thing about this is it screams of panic style last second buying rather than a guy they'd been going for the whole window. Buying in a panic with hours to go because a guy is out for 3 weeks? if Gibbs will continue to be our first team left back when fit, I see no reason to splash 8mil and 40k+ a week on another left back.

This is where my problem with Wenger comes in, buying a left back, crucial, if Wenger won't play him over one of his favourites after only a few weeks, whats the point. This is why I can't get excited about signings we make, because most clubs buy a top notch player, they'll get played and hopefully improve the team, Wenger buys a top notch player, you have to pray he's played in his best position, played at all, isn't some expensive short term mistake that hurts the club for years to come :(

Oh well, maybe Gibbs will be injured for a year and Wenger will have no choice, maybe he'll fluke into the right decision and outside forces will mean he has to play him.... but as with anything Wenger these days, we won't know if its a ridiculous or good signing till Gibbs is fit again and we see what happens.

They were planning to get him in the summer, they've had a deal agreed in principle since before Christmas, he's even been learning English. It isn't a panic buy.

Oh come on DM, you've been saying for god knows how long that you want Arsenal to buy a LB. It looks like they are signing a LB, a decent one from what I've seen of him.... and you're still not happy.

At the very least, surely it means the end of Santos - that really did scream panic buy!

We've signed Kevin Sainte-Luce who was sacked from Cardiff after punching a girl in a nightclub brawl! Any bluebirds know much about him? Hopefully a great signing for a league two club.

The only thing that is worrying me is that we have bought an LB, great but won't be so great if that muppet Santos starts ahead of him :/

I can only hope and pray that Wenger finally gets rid of Santos even if we have to pay another team to take him and same applies to Squillaci, Rosicky and Djourou plus a few others...hell take spamhead Gervinho as well :p

Sky Sports recycle the same **** constantly. I saw Odemwingie's interview some 5 times, Norwich's bid some 4 times, the American guy's interview who signed for Stoke for 2.5M that can go up to 3M for another 5 times.

Its so boring now :o

Need something interesting to spice it up.

EDIT: They are still reporting Beckham and Balotelli. Balo was so 2 days ago, and Beckham was so mid day news.

Sounds like a nice bloke. Punched one girl unconscious then decked her friend

A few cardiff fans say it was not how it was reported in the press. Meanwhile a lot of Dons fans are annoyed about signing him.

Neal Ardley knows him from Cardiff so hope he's a good judge of his character and it was a moment of madness.

townsend on loan to qpr. jenas has gone somewhere too, not sure it's qpr though.

heh it is qpr

come on redknapp, we've got a nice used bentley for sale too

gomes gone out on loan abroad.

Arsenal's problem isn't who we buy, or who we have in the squad, its who Wenger randomly chooses he loves and screws everyone over for.

Jenks IS better than Sagna, massively better defensively, yet who starts? Diaby is simply a joke, Coquelin is better in every aspect of his game, who gets chances every time they are fit, who barely ever gets a chance. Arshavin is our best winger by a mile, and got canned.

Its not about what left backs we buy, its about not playing Gibbs, considering Wenger's favouritism in SO many cases in the past 8 years, buying a left back is worthless, if Wenger chooses to play a crap one instead.

Much like, whats the point in buying Ba, if you start Torres and lose points anyway? Ba's got them points, and goals, but he'd have done more if he started and Torres was just benched. Same goes for Lampard being benched for MUCH worse players in the past two years under a couple managers... in almost all those cases the managers went back to Lampard, and did better. Wenger didn't drop Hleb and put Pires back in, he stuck with his mistake till the better player left, he's done this countless times now.

Arsenal need major fixes to the first team, simple as that, if Wenger chooses to actually play the new guy, great, I'm saying, if he goes straight back to Gibbs when he's back from injury, its just money wasted.... again.
