January Transfer Window 2012/2013 Season Rumours/Signings

So yeah, transfer rumours?

The 3 best things about Sturridge going to Liverpool -

1. That would mean that we are definitely going to get another striker who should be better than Sturridge otherwise we'd try to keep him, Heskey perhaps?
2. Liverpool are buying Sturridge.
3. Liverpool are buying Sturridge.

In terms of Arsenal Jenks is actually decent, Gibbs isn't, at all, Wilshire is an amazingly good player but him alone won't do anything. Good to see he doesn't have early "I want to go to a club actually winning stuff" syndrome that I expect he'll eventually get. Ramsey is utterly pointless and Chamberlain.... time will tell. Theres a lot exciting about his play, but still his end product is mostly very poor crossing, not great shooting, and he's not the best passer in the world either. At least he looks like with a little improvement he could become very good. Gibbs simple does not know how to defend, at all, and Ramsey has just been crap for two years.

I basically said this to an Arsenal fan and he went crazy at me, now I know being a Tottenham fan that can be seen as baiting, but I wasnt and he went for my throat, seriously took a bite.

I dont think Wilshire is there yet either, no doubt he has huge huge talent, but his temperament will let him down badly imo, he loves to square up to people/have little nips here and there. If these guys all signed long term contracts at Spurs, I would be worried.

Wilshire is brilliant, defensively and offensively, and he is there already, though he'll improve. His biggest problem is offensively, ideally he could play 1-2's off Gervinho and run into the box.... the problem, Gervinho. Giroud I don't hate but at his very best he'll never be more than decent, Podolski is the same, he's shined in games others around him are playing well. IE when he doesn't play with gervinho and Santi/Wilshire play well, Podolski will be amazing. There are players who are individuals, and players who pass and move and play off each other. Wilshire/Podolski could slot into a Barca side and look much better just from those around them. Gervinho would still be the same **** player in that Barca side. Defensively, its worth noting that we conceded some 50% more than utd in 09/10, 11/12, closer to 20% in 10/11, and look good on goals conceded this year also... the common factor in the terrible years... no Wilshire. we look even better now we've got shot of Song. SO many freekicks we used to concede, we aren't conceding anymore, so many run that went unmarked into our box our now marked by Wilshire or Arteta.

Even more when you look at the kinds of goals we concede, by far, an embarrassing amount of individual mistakes. Central midfield is utterly key to a good defence, and Arteta/Wilshire is epic in that sense, but can't be helped when Gibbs passes to their attacker right infront of our defence. Around 60% of our goals are individual mistakes, IE Wilshire/Arteta can't help with those.(okay, I think 2-3 have been Arteta's individual errors, he had a bad spell of form for a month, he's been very good otherwise)

He's brilliant, but a playmaker won't shine when those ahead of him look woeful, and he does look excellent defensively, but that won't help when someone behind him scores an own goal or does something almost as stupid. He makes a HUGE difference to Arsenal, absolutely huge.

Gibbs at 50+ k a week I'd happily see sold, offered a 20-25k a week with appearance bonuses higher than other players. Ramsey I'd happily see sold at this point, Jenks I'm happy to see stay, but why he's been insta benched for Sagna I can't say, he's better offensively and better defensively. Jenks shows real potential but ultimately might suffer under Wenger and his "you're not my favourite, I'm ignoring you till Sagna gets injured, if he never does I'll probably forget you exist" routine. We should be building him up over time, not letting his form disappear, not letting him completely stagnate by rotting on the bench like SO many other players.

There is no way Jenks couldn't be better than Gibb's on the left, taller, stronger, better defensively, better offensively AND cheaper..... let Gibbs leave and put Jenks in at left back till we buy a real one, then let Sagna leave and play Jenks there, sorted.

David Villa: Cut by Sky Bet for Swansea move

The online betting firm added the Swans to their 'Transfer Specials' market by request on Wednesday afternoon and immediately saw a flurry of bets, with reports suggesting a three-month loan deal was on the cards.

Sky Bet's Chris Spicer said: "It is certainly a surprising development but, judging from the size of the stakes, it appears somebody knows something we don't.

"The suggestion is that Barcelona could allow the Spain striker to leave on a loan deal in the intention that he can regain form following the leg break, having looked some way off his best since returning at the start of the season.

"The Swans appear good suitors given their current Spanish contingent and preference to playing attractive football."
Obviously a slow news day for Sky Bet.

Wilshire of course, no problem at all.

AOC may well come good, but nah I wouldnt want him at Utd just yet

You'd have to actually pay to get him off us, might be a new contract but he had plenty of time left I would have thought. Why would you pay 15mil now, when he'll be desparate to leave in 2 years for a fraction of that cost :p

:(

Obviously a slow news day for Sky Bet.

I can see Villa being unhappy enough to leave to get football, and while they have since said its fine, Messi basically screamed at him multiple times in more than one game. Keeps coming across to me that Messi seems to get a bit upset if he hasn't scored yet and players dare shoot when there is any chance of a pass to him. Ibra was shunted out to make way for Messi upfront, Eto'o I think was pushed out for that reason amongst others, and Villa to some degree seems to be getting the "don't upset Messi or you're out" treatment.

If you watch Barca though you can hear the insane roar that will erupt when he comes off the bench, they LOVE him, he is the highest scoring(all time?) Spanish striker around, and won world cups and Euro's with his goals, he is a great player.

You'd hope that Cesc would have a word in his ear and push him towards a half season at Arsenal though, that would be awesome. Podolski, Villa, Santi, Wilshire, Arshavin(in my dreams in real life no chance, AOC or Wallcrap) would make me a very happy man.

Ultimately he's FAR too good to be an off the bench player, he's still only 29 IIRC.

The amount of hate Nani and Young get, I'm sure you'd be happy to have him in the squad! He's obviously nowhere near the finished article, but he's an exciting prospect... from a neutral standpoint.

I wouldn't have AOC even over Young.

And I hate Young.

Kagawa hasn't really looked great so far though from the games I'v seen him play in.

Give him a chance, getting used to a new team in a new league and getting used to being played in 3 different positions / tactics, its not going to be easy for him.

I have no doubt by the end of the season he will have been proven to be worthwhile
