January Transfer Window 2012/2013 Season Rumours/Signings

OMG

if this happens then the moutinho palava will be forgotten and levy shall be forgiven. :D

another striker and another pace player would be nice too.

But surely Inter are paying him loads already...and he clearly wants more...so Spurs would need to offer at least £150k or something?

Not entirely sure i believe that.

dempsey, sig, lennon. all are expendable. though preferably i'd like to see dembele and sneijder linking up through the centre with sandro or parker covering the back 4 and playing simple distribution.

getting a bit carried away as it's only a rumour but if nothing comes of it, i'd be very surprised if we don't go back in for moutinho as levy will have saved a couple of mil in wages if we have had him last transfer window.

willian rumour not gone away since last window too and would be a welcome addition but the striker situation has gone very quiet.

Hasn't sneidjer been pretty bad recently?

He's always been a bit rubbish and insanely wasteful, 2 goals in 60 shots in the league in his worst season for Real, 1 in 10 in his best, he's not played what most people would consider a full season in forever, 18-24 starts a year is all you seem to get, and you're talking about 3-4 goals a season on average from 80-110 shots... he's VASTLY over rated and always was.

He's a guy who will score the odd really fantastic looking goal so gets on highlights, but does little else, and has only ever had one prolific season, he got 18 in one season for Ajax and that was one of only two seasons he's ever gone over 10 goals in all competitions, he hasn't broken 4 league goals in 5 years, and for a guy who plays more behind a striker rather than a hard working midfielder, with one of the poorest shots to goal ratios in any top league...lol

He's VDV but scores and assists significantly less, I think VDV has outscored and outassisted him pretty much every season since the 18 goal season for Ajax.... Sneidjer is Joe Cole, can look fancy but produces very little and like now, when Inter is reliant on him rather than him supplementing other top players, the team sucks. When they had a top striker or two and other people doing most of the work he could look useful.

I wouldn't give him £50k a week, let alone £150k and if Spurs give him anything like that they massively regret it.

For a guy whose main job is freekicks, shooting and playmaking he gets very few goals, assists. He's the anti Zlatan, who seems to always have bad games when against English sides, Sneidjer always seems to play well in the few games most English people watch in the champs league, but sucks most of the rest of the time.

DM, where do you source your stats?

Good spot!

2 goals in 60 shots in the league in his worst season for Real

1 in 10 in his best

18-24 starts a year

3-4 goals a season on average from 80-110 shots

18 in one season for Ajax

one of only two seasons he's ever gone over 10 goals in all competitions

hasn't broken 4 league goals in 5 years

one of the poorest shots to goal ratios in any top league

He's VDV but scores and assists significantly less

I think VDV has outscored and outassisted him pretty much every season since the 18 goal season for Ajax....

For a guy whose main job is freekicks, shooting and playmaking he gets very few goals, assists.

Impressive.

He basically seems like a player with one of two problems, either he is really good and is a lazy bum who barely bothers so doesn't do well, in which case you don't want him, or he's a player who is actually average and just gets a bit lucky with when his best games occur(on a big stage making everyone think he's great), in which case you REALLY don't want him.

I mean seriously think how many footie fans for 6-7 years have completely under rated Ibra because his best games aren't widely broadcast, while most of the naysayers have seen more of him in the past 2-3 years and are finding it harder and harder to deny how god damned epic a player he is. In contrast another player can have 5 great games in his career, if those come in the right games what he does in the rest of his career won't register with most of Europe.

Theres better players, theres more effective players, and there are both types who can be had for 1/3rd of the wages he'll try to get.

I think he's gotten crazy lucky with when/where his best games have happened, if his 4 goals and 3 champs league goals came against the bottom Serie A clubs and crap teams in group stage, he'd be seen as rubbish. Maybe he really is exceptional but like so many others, realises he can get away with a few half decent performances and cruising his way through his career. At this point I think if people don't offer serious money he'll be off to America/Russia/some payday last contract.

Realistically all clubs should be looking for Michu's, not Sneijder's, overpaying for hype is never a good idea. There is ALWAYS a new player under rated in every position, there is multiple under rated players in every position, there is always a top deal to be made, let stupid clubs spend stupid wages, and stupid transfer fee's while you snap up bargains and laugh at the stupid clubs. Sneijder even if he performed, will cost a bomb and screw up the squad and structure at somewhere like Spurs, at worst he'll be an unmitigated disaster.

I'd be happy if they bought him, and incredibly unhappy if Arsenal did.

When you consider Lampard for instance has hit over 20 goals in all but a few seasons, and hit 34 for club and country(28 just for Chelsea I believe) with over 15 assists a bunch of times and mostly 10+ assists.... while Sneijder has gone over 15 goals in a season once in his career(he got 14 2 seasons ago but that included 5 in the world cup), with a crappy assist rate. All the while Lampard works from deeper, works harder, does more defensive work and is better defensively... thats not necessarily a terrible thing, Lampard is one of the worlds most consistent central midfielders, few score/assist at his rate and not being as good isn't a sign you're terrible.

But if Lampard is £150k a week and a truly top notch player who at 34 scored 11 last year in the league to Sneijder's 4(Lampard played more games but took significantly less shots per game and overall), then Sneijder both can't be considered one of the best in the world, nor that effective, not remotely worth splashing 150k a week on.

If I was the Spurs or Arsenal manager I'd prefer to get lampard at 34 in Jan than Sneijder.... easily.

How Sneijder gets considered one of the best around alongside the likes of Lampard, Xavi, Cesc, Iniesta, and frankly dozens or hundreds of others over the past 20 years.... its a joke. He's not bad, and assists and goals aren't everything, but his all around game isn't great, he's insanely inconsistent and he isn't remotely close to effective enough to demand the kind of wages he currently gets or wants with his next move. When you look at a list of players who deserve 150k or more a week, top notch defenders, keepers, defensive midfielders, when you look at midfielders and strikers, you need some end product even if the rest of your game is epic, he neither has much end product, nor is brilliant at every other part of his game.

Upon typing "sneijder shots to goal ratio" into Google, the 7th link down is this thread and there is NOTHING helpful in the first 6 links.

I know stats don't give the whole story but when you (DM) start blurting out wide figures and claiming tens of things as a fact, i would like to know where it's coming from.

Maybe i've missed this amazing website with statistics for every single player!

Realistically all clubs should be looking for Michu's, not Sneijder's,

this time last year, you'd have been replacing michu with ba or cisse.

i agree with what you say to an extent with clubs scouting for unknowns (though michu could go the same way as ba and cisse, ie a burnout)

there's no way sneidjer could've had the career he has by blagging it. the biggest worry for me as a spurs fan is his age. at 28, he's not a long term solution.

VDV being sold was a mistake. ok the bloke couldn't play 90 but he added something we hadn't had for a long time and was also a good dressing room character. if sneidjer could bring a bit of that back, i''d love it. the thought of a spine of dembele, sneijder and sandro is a nice one.

in other spurs news,, friedel has signed and extension to 2014.
