Holtby's apparently gone to Schalke on loan, hopefully paving the way for Draxler to join.

LOL Spurs giving us another helping hand in the transfer market??, you would have thought after the Ozil saga and how that turned out that they would be a bit more careful of letting better players join Arsenal lol.

All good though if it does happen.

Where have you seen this? Telegraph saying that Spurs are interested in a Holtby - Berbatov swap deal with Fulham (loan).

Bundesliga @BundesIigaEN 26m
Arsenal have made an enquiry for Leverkusen enforcer Lars Bender.

Lewis Holtby's move to Schalke is very close and could trigger Julian Draxler's move to Arsenal. (Source: SkySport News HD)

SSN so won't happen :(

Edit: Something else that doesn't make sense is Salah was our number one target yet we weren't prepared to pay over £10 million or something yet Konoplyanka is rumoured to be costing £16 million

We done a very similar thing in the summer with our CB targets. We were after that Greek CB for somewhere in the region of £10m but moved onto Sakho at £17m(ish).

I can only imagine that we went for Salah (like the greek) with the idea of spreading our budget so we can sign another player as well and having failed to do that deal, we've decided to go for just the higher end player.

SSN were reporting it, would be epic if Holtby went to Schalke and in return we bag and tag Drax:p but as its SSN, its highly unlikely. Did read somewhere that Schalke were interested in taking Holtby off Spurs..cant remember where though.

Hope I am wrong but cannot see Drax coming to Arsenal in the next few days, summer maybe! But come ooon Wenger!!

Pretty much what im thinking as well, i just think us signing him means we get him cheaper than what we would have to pay in the summer. But fingers crossed something comes out of this soon, time is running out!!!

It seems to be coming out of Germany (Sky) and a few reputable people seem to be under that impression, so I'd say it's true. I can't see him picking Fulham over Schalke.

True. I know just one good striker is needed for now at least, to take off some pressure off Giroud and give us that extra bit in games like yesterdays.

The German revolution is certainly in full swing at the emirates! :D

Indeed it is, about time Wenger gave up on his fellow frenchmen:p. Interesting stat from our FA Cup game against Coventry last week, fielded 5 Germans that night.

I like it in all honesty, if anything we've at least got a few decent pen takers haha :D

Not sure about Draxler though, I kinda hope we don't pay the asking price because that's money I feel that could be better spent in the striking department.

Well i think we could afford him and possibly a big name striker, especially with the Puma money kicking in July this summer, £30mill extra will help.

I think Wenger is going to try and convert Draxler, if we get him into a forward/striker like he did with RVP and Henry a few yrs back. If he does then i hope for his sake it works out because as much as i like Giroud, i just dont feel he is capable of scoring 20+ goals a season.

I'm pretty sure this doesn't happen, manager gives list to owner, owner pays whatever he wants........

;)

Yup, simply put, situations change, funds free up or get removed due to how other deals go. This is why it's utterly absurd to constantly(and only in the past couple years) assume managers have no say in the price. Mostly managers will have a rough budget and you choose how best to spend it. Sometimes you go for a cheaper CB to allow you to buy someone else you want more, when things change, your targets change.

Fact is one CB at 17mil can be better value than paying 2mil more for a 10mil rated CB, at other times the reverse is true, this is why it's crucial, absolutely ridiculously important that a manager has input on who they prefer and at what prices. Player X is a great buy at say 10mil, an okay buy at 13mil and not good value at 16mil.

Lars Bender is a great player, if real would be a great addition for Arsenal.

Still, sign a blinking forward! Such an exciting season and don't want Arsenal to drop off.

I'd have preferred Konoplyanka before Salah to be honest so I am glad it seems to be heading this way!

Have you honestly seen either play more than 3 times? And I wouldn't get ahead of yourself just yet either, a few reports are saying it's not going to be straight forward to tie this deal up in just a couple of days.
