There's definitely an arguement that Utd's squad wasn't as good as last years table suggested but it's not as bad as what some are now making out. Maybe Utd shouldn't have been expected to win the League but they should still be challenging at the very top of the table and certainly not contemplating missing out on the CL.

I agree entirely, that's what's disappointing.

We need a left back, he knows him, it wouldn't have been a bad move but Everton would have bummed us on the price.

He also apparently knows Fellaini but that doesn't mean he is worth nearly £30m.

Baines would have been the better buy and as you already got bummed on that you might as well have gone with the flow :p

Utd still have a good enough squad to get 4th but Moyes looks out of his depth.

Pelligrini and Maureen have both inherited excellent squads and both managers have manged top teams and have billions of ££ to back them up. Moyes has inherited a relatively poor squad and doesn't have the experiene of managing a top team. He needs time. Imo he should be judged next season, once he's had a full season to sort **** out

Agree with you both. I think most people would agree RvP and Rooney are by far our best two players, so the fact they've both been missing at various points is a big blow for Moyes and very unfortunate.

First error he made was making RVP train with the rest of the team, he trained alone at Arsenal and alone when he moved over to Utd as he had to follow his own training schedule. Two injury free seasons

Moyes decided he had to train with the team...hows that working for him? :p

Good point. Plus after those good injury free seasons he had...he jumped ship (for want of trophies etc etc)...now injured lol.:)

Would Baines have been a better buy, the guy clearly has some sort of an issue adapting to change. He struggled when he came to Everton and Lescott was played at LB until he settled and he struggled when he joined the england set up.

I still say Jagielka would be more the player they need. There's no faith in the CBs and no continuity or stability.

One thing that cant easily be quantified is that adding Baines to Utd' s squad would release Rooney ( and hopefully RvP when he is fit) from dead ball situations so they can both be in the box where they are far more dangerous

The team has survived far too long without a better option in these situations. Januzzaj looks like he is keen, but it will still take quite some years for him to be an expert.

Obviousely this skill on its own isnt worth how ever many millions, it would be wonderful to have that additional option

Michel Bastos (Brazilian LB, was at Lille, Lyon and Schalke, now at Al Ain) was expected to go to Napoli for a medical, and he decided he wants to join Roma instead. This change of heart ,ight be because he already worked with Gracia at Lille, so he knows the coach has faith in him.

Not overly excited at his arrival. Whist he does give us a decent cover at LB (Dodo isn't up to scratch yet, and Balzaretti is always injured and when he played, he didn't play well), I feel he is only a shadow of his former self because he stopped playing 'top quality' football for some time. Also, he is more a left midfielder/winger rather than a left back. All good if he comes on loan though.

Lacina Traore looks like he's signing on loan from Monaco. I seen a few of Anzhi's games last season in Europe because of their earlier kick off times and he looked very skillful with the ball. His goal against Liverpool is a perfect example.
