I think that's a fair comment really. RvP even when he's played this season has not been great, he's scored a few goals but his general play has been worse than last season. Hard to say whether it's been fitness related.

The same issue that most of our best players have had all season. They pass to 80% of the team and either get a **** pass back or we lose the ball. You can't expect RvP to look great when he is coming back to deep midfield to get the ball and the movement around him is ****.

It's his dad I think so probably quite reasonable, unlike some.

Well looking at the Neymar deal...........:D

As you said, it will probably be reasonable - Utd have been incredibly stringent on agent fees (I think thats why the club havent gone after a number of players in the very recent past/ transfers have broken down)

How can you know this, you have stated this as fact. Do you know Messi?

In future please be clearer in your speculation and factual posts.

Actually completely wrong - "unlikely" is forming an opinion , its not definitive

Try again

Pretty much, covering summer/this season for club and country he has 21 starts and 17 goals. He's in form, but as you say it's hard to look brilliant when you're reliant on a terrible midfield for service.

Messi, Ronaldo, RVP, Suarez miss sitters in just about every game, if they win and score, the misses are ignored, if the team loses a few games the misses are highlighted. That isn't wrong in and of itself, if someone misses a sitter that would win a game, sure, point it out, but it's pretending it doesn't happen in all games where it becomes irritating as hell.

All strikers miss buttloads of chances, more chances when the team plays better, they'll score. Then when a team is in a run of poor form and is creating a striker say 2 chances on average a game instead of 5-10, that is when strikers tend to start playing under pressure, trying to force a shot rather than take it naturally.

It's when people act like striker X scores a goal a game for 10 games, they win the 10 games, he's a god, he's never missed in his life, when he scores 1 every 3 games and they lose a bunch, he's crap and out of form, people talk about misses like they didn't happen before. Absolutely does my head in as it's such a painful pile of dross.

Suarez vs Norwich 4 goals, 9 shots. vs West Ham 2 goals 9 shots, vs Spurs 2 goals, 7 shots, vs Cardiff 2 goals 9 shots, vs City 0 goals 5 shots, vs Chelsea 0 goals 2 shots, vs Hull 1 goal, 4 shots, vs Stoke 2 goals 4 shots, vs Villa 0 goals 4 shots....... etc.

In general team does better, striker has more chances, striker scores more.

Sometimes a striker has 7 shots and scores 4, sometimes a striker has 9 shots and scores 2. I missed out Fulham, 10 shots and only 2 goals. West brom 3 goals 8 shots, Utd in the cup 8 shots 0 goals.

Top strikers always miss LOADS of chances. There will be games in which they shoot AND score loads, games in which they shoot loads and don't score, and games in which they barely shoot but score with every shot.

I would've thought Nani and Kagawa will be sold and the rest will be kept and rotated with the first team players.

It's funny how one transfer puts a different complexion on the set up of the team. I think Moyes will give Kagawa till at least the summer and potentially use as bait for someone else. Nani again could be used as bait for Vidal. However I think he will want to keep Nani as he can play as a winger either side or as a forward either side of a front three. Unfortunately that offers a little more than Tony V or Young who are more traditional right or left wingers

Could be a boost like Ozil was for the Arsenal team.

With Mata coming in everyone might actually start playing better in that team thinking they are starting to go places again with regards to bringing in the quality.

Not kept an eye on any transfers until now. One hour into a 14 hour bus journey and I discover mata has signed for man utd . I did not see that coming but im mad3 up for the bloke. Spectacular player who I want to see play every week, this was obviously not going to happen at Chelsea but its not like he kicked up a fuss.

Now watch moyes play him at lb.

RVP has had 16 games and scored 10 goals and then got injured, lets not be silly.

Rooney despite wanging a few stray passes, having a donkeys touch sometimes and now being injured for a bit has been much better and looked more like Rooney of old under Moyes.

The creativity of our team in the recent weeks has been carried by an 18 year old boy, I think that says enough that we need some more creativity when Rooney is out and Mata certainly brings that.

Agreed on all points. RvP looks much better when Rooney is on the pitch with him, too. Hopefully Mata will make the pair of them even better, then we're in serious business.

Seems like our 3 potential targets for the rest of the window are: Kroos, Reus and William Carvalho. I've never seen much of the latter but it looks as if he's got a touch of the Yaya Toure about him, in stature at least, he's a more defensive player.

We've got to try and win every remaining game, which is going to be extremely difficult, and with Carrick out for a month, that makes it even tougher. I think this makes a midfield signing even more urgent, and Anderson has gone.

La Repubblica, are reporting Michael Essien did not pass his Milan medical, so could be sent back to Chelsea.

According to these reports the 31-year-old Ghana international failed tests related to an old knee injury.

Essien will now undergo further stress tests at the Milan lab in a bid to rescue the transfer. Good luck Michael.

I'm sure his transfer fee would be next to nothing and Milan could put clauses in his contract if they are worried. Other than those injuries to his knee he has been fit most of the time.

IN:
Reus
Kroos
Pogba
Vidal
Mata (signed)
Guarin
Herrmann
Kruse
Dante

OUT:
Evra
Rio
Chico
Buttner
Nani
Zaha
Rafael

Seems like someone has been playing UT. :D I don't see us signing anyone else in this window. I'd take Vidal and Guarin out of the bunch. Some real strength in midfield with those two. Then we can look into buying a new defence. Ogbonna and Garay would be welcome additions.

Glen Johnson also being rumored a move to old trafford. I wouldn't say no as he is England's no1 RB but we could do better in the market than a 29 year old full back.

The Glen Johnson thing has come from Duncan Castles, here's the full article:

Mata to be the first of six major signings as Man United allow Moyes to tear champions apart. #MUFC #CFC

David Moyes intends to make the club-record acquisition of Juan Mata the first of a ruthless overhaul of Manchester United's squad. The Scot is targeting the recruitment of five more players at the peak of their careers – ideally over the age of 25, with the quality and desire to accumulate trophies.

Under Moyes' direction, United are exploring deals for an unusually large cohort of players across Europe. They are looking for a forward, two midfielders and at least two defenders. Further moves are possible before the window closes with the aim of having all six key recruits in place next season.

United's current transfer activities contrast to the discreetly prepared and precisely executed approach of Sir Alex Ferguson and David Gill, who stood down as CEO in the summer. “I don't think even Man United know exactly what they are going to do,” said one senior football figure last week.

Among deals being considered are moves for Southampton left back Luke Shaw, Bayern defender Dante and midfielder Toni Kroos, Inter's Fredy Guarin, FC Porto's Fernando, Juventus' Paul Pogba, and Dortmund's Marco Reus. The situation of Glen Johnson, told he can only extend his Liverpool contract if he accepts a drop in his £130,000 pw wages, also interests.

Having pursued a controversial strategy of reinstating Wayne Rooney as United's most important player at the cost of the respect of some team-mates, Moyes sanctioned discussions to agree a new contract with the England international. An exact salary has yet to be agreed, but if Rooney signs he will be elevated above Robin van Persie as the club's best-paid individual. Rooney wants to be certain more major signings will follow.

Van Persie's discontent under Moyes and his injury issues have rendered last season's leading scorer expendable. Moyes is in the process of selling full back Fabio, and wants brother Rafael out by the summer. A third Brazilian, Anderson, has been loaned to Fiorentina, though the Serie A club has no formal option to buy.

While Moyes told friends last summer he had doubts about the squad he was inheriting, attempts to land marquee signings Cristiano Ronaldo, Cesc Fabregas and Gareth Bale all failed, resulting in a £27.5m move for Marouane Fellaini. Six months which have left United competing solely for the Champions League hardened Moyes' opinions towards them.
