Japanese Grand Prix 2011, Suzuka Circuit - Race 15/19

I really dont understand how anybody thinks driving a car with such precision lap after lap [even though people think it is the best, i'd argue there] does not take skill, the mind boggles.. The McLaren,Ferrari have been marginally behind our car on a few occasions and on some circuits equal to it but even with their proven "skill" have not been able to push Seb off pole.

The mind really does boggle sometimes

Don't do yourself and the guys who designed/built the car a diservice! The car has been faster than any other on the grid from the start of the season right up until Vettel took the title. Look at the qualifying results, they speak for themselves.

I'm not a Vettel hater and I do think it does take a special ability to nail lap after lap, I just want to see him have some proper competition next season, be that from other teams, or a team mate with a little bit more luck!

The specific 'skill' we were talking about was overtaking ability, something Vettel has not had the opportunity to do much of this year.

I see where your coming from but, is it really his fault that he puts the car where it should be so doesnt get to overtake much slower cars coming off the grid? Wonder how many overtakes Jenson would have had if he hadnt been starting 7th or 8th etc.

Yes and no, many times this season it has been closer than people think. Thats where Seb's ability to "nail" a lap has been evident. Mistakes by either McLaren or Ferrari have allowed him to get pole on quite a few occaisions where they should have got it themselves.

the drivers beeing of higher quality is also BS its about the same as it ever was apart from msc generally had a proper title rival unlike vettel has had this season
More WDC winners competing while still in their prime right now than when MSc was dominating...

ps3ud0

doesnt prove anything the drivers are better, button almost lost a championship to rubens... alonso was roughly schumachers equal, massa isnt what he once was, hakkinen would probably school them all.

webber was almost a nobody back then to yet he almost beat vettel before RBR gave him a handicap to make sure he cant get in vettels way.

and vettel having the chance to beat all of these records in one single season

sounds more uncompetive than it ever was

I think most people would agree that it is easier to nail a lap in car that has appeared to be on rails at times rather than in a car that you have to rag around in order to maximise its performance.

Or see the other side of the coin when Button came from the back to win the race(Canada) he even made vimto make a mistake ;)

Put vimto in 3rd or 4th and he is done for..even Ross Brawn says the jury is still out on him.

No, thats not what I'm saying. I'm not saying Vettel can't overtake or doesn't have skill, im just saying he hasn't had to overtake much, which is factual.

The context it was in was whoever I was talking with saying that compared to Vettel, Button and Alonso, Hamilton was making a lot more mistakes when overtaking. I just said that you couldn't really use Vettel in that as he has done so few overtakes this year you can't really use him as a comparison for overtaking ability.

The guy has destroyed everyone, but you can hardly say its because he has been an overtaking daemon, because with his raw pace, he simply hasn't had to do it much, simple as that.

Button is not alone in that though, a few of the top teams drivers have started near the back and overtaken slower cars to climb up the grid. Its a bloody good result and impressive to watch but if you are not putting the car where by merits it should be, is that Seb's fault? Iirc Seb lapped everyone upto 6th place at Melbourne this year, beat Lewis by 20 seconds and didnt have the use of KERS.

Your a confirmed troll when it comes to Red Bull anyway [with your childlike names you make up] :D

Tell the other drivers to put Seb in 3rd or 4th place and see what he can do thats all i can say on that.

from RB's comments it doesnt sound like he doubts vettel at all

Jeese, nuts, calm down. Nobody is saying Vettel is rubbish. Were merely saying that we cannot pass a judgement on his overtaking ability when he hasn't had any need to do any, and therefore give us any evidence for or against.

For all I know he could have a fantastic singing voice too, but having never had the opportunity to hear it, I can't judge.
