Japanese Grand Prix 2011, Suzuka Circuit - Race 15/19

Jeese, nuts, calm down. Nobody is saying Vettel is rubbish. Were merely saying that we cannot pass a judgement on his overtaking ability when he hasn't had any need to do any, and therefore give us any evidence for or against.

For all I know he could have a fantastic singing voice too, but having never had the opportunity to hear it, I can't judge.
if anything based on this season vettle cant do much worse than your man hamilton..

did you know hamilton broke a new record already, most penalties imposed during a season , he broke his last record of 5 in a season by obtaining 6 this one. ;)

Internet nicknames for F1 drivers, collect the whole set!

But why, some names like messiah had a reason, still childish.

Vimto though what's it's origins, it doesn't seem to make any sense. I've probably missed it as I haven't been following this argument in any of the last few race threads.

doesnt prove anything the drivers are better, button almost lost a championship to rubens... alonso was roughly schumachers equal, massa isnt what he once was, hakkinen would probably school them all.

webber was almost a nobody back then to yet he almost beat vettel before RBR gave him a handicap to make sure he cant get in vettels way.

and vettel having the chance to beat all of these records in one single season

sounds more uncompetive than it ever was
Ill bite - fancy given me any real proof that the competition was of a higher calibre, while MSc was winning championships, after all its you that made the inference, lets see what you have to back it up with :)

Meant to edit :/
I love Hamilton, grew up adoring McLaren and still like them to do well [just not as well as us]
So gonna get sacked :p (I am joking btw CS Nuts boss :waves: )

button almost lost a wdc to barrichello.

alonso was one of the better drivers on the grid then and by many hes still the best on the grid now.

schumacher doesnt seem to have much problems holding up/racing against people with faster cars even though hes past his peak.

hopefully merc get a more competitive car next year and all that the drivers are better now and theres more competition bs can be put to rest there is no proof they are better.

even webber was only an average driver back then and he gave vettel a good run before he got handicapped.

a lot of the "better" drivers on the grid now were on the grid back then and were only considered "good" drivers

Not really - you made the original post, so in reality the onus is on you, why bring up the point if you arent able to back it up? ;)

Its not like my viewpoint isnt the most accepted here anyway too, especially considering your last concession that drivers that are still around today are better than they were back then...

Such as?
Can we have some names?

The only drivers of any note who were around 5-10 years ago (during the MSc -4 year- domination), were Barrichello and Button. Button in particular has definitely improved and is driving at his highest level, today, in 2011. Barrichello is definitely not as good today as he once was, when driving with Ferrari. Webber is getting whipped badly by Vettel.

I can't think of any other driver of any note.

and here means what exactly in the grand scheme of things? laughs

50 regular posters - maybe a few more, compared to 1000's of "real" f1 fans, if not millions world wide.....hmmm just shows how insignificant absolutely any "majority view" really means.....

So Alonso in a Minardi was competition for MS? as soon as he got a capable car he beat MS into retirement :p or was it MS was scared to race against Kimi and not have a lapdog, can't decide :D
