I looked at this but you have to have money to go out (around £2300) I have an ISA but cant touch it until may, then i will use it to get a cheap car for a hopefully new job and bond on a house.

Good luck in NZ, what are you doing?

I have found out the more honest and hard working you are the more you get shaffted when you need the help, you get treated the same as a scally who has not worked in his entire life.

Can you not find any job, just manged to get a part time job at a restaurant, min wage but earning nearly £130 a week, keeps me busy and better than the JSA.

I was applying for jobs when I was made redundant, everything was temp work around xmas and was getting no luck in the new year, having any job is more satisfying then sitting at home on the dole.

Ive been helping out with family stuff too, gardening and that. A 40 foot tree needs hacking down somehow, will do that next week. Also grandad is very ill at moment so I suppose its good that i can see him whenever.

If i dont have a 1/2 decent job in a month or so then its call centre and warehouse work time

hey pal, about the money issue. i rooked up sydney airport with less than £200 in me bank account and around $400 in cash (£200) and i never got checked.
its about 1 in 20 chance you'll actually be checked for the cash like. as long as you look smart its fine like. a popular work around this is to get relatives/friends to stick the £2000 in your bank account day before you fly, fly there, get through immigration and via the (free internet) terminals in the airport, transfer it all back :P
another workaround is if you have a credit card + an overdraft that add's up to around £2000 you'll be allowed through. or are meeting someone with accomodation and they meet you. youll be fine :D

and im goin to do a ski season with the missus, gettin a 23 month visa which is cool, plus i have me 2nd year visa for oz so i can jump to oz when im done in new zealand, hopefully within the next 3 years this recessionthingy will be a bit better. lol

all the scrongers get housing benefit (free rent) council tax benefit (free Ctax) and JSA so its win win for them, however if youve spent years and paid your taxes and lose your job through no fault of your own, you get sweet FA its a great system isnt it

Im confused why the OP is complaining? Why are you waiting so long and claiming? How about you get the job in a warehouse (Or where ever you can) and THEN look for better jobs....

To moan about something you can change easy is stupid..... IMO i dont think you do acctually deserv job seekers, because your looking for "decent" jobs, get one you can then look for your "decent" job....

So yeah you too are spongeing. Just because you have been paying tax all this time dont mean you should have more :\

We look after people far to much

thats what i did afew years back made redundant so got an agency warehouse job within 2 weeks ,bloody hated it but hey it was work and ive ended up in a much better position now

Good luck. You'll need it. I certainly can't say I've had any success myself since the contract for my warehouse job ended.

PS: Phone the JSA line, which you can find here: www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk (its an 0800 number so free from most landlines) and ask to claim income-based JSA when you're put through to a member of staff.

just my 2p worth, I've been laid off and I can't get jobseekers because I was part time 2 years ago.
so I'm expected to pay the rent with money I don't have. put in an app for income based. three weeks ago. they still haven't processed it.
I've not had any income since 2nd feb.
brilliant.

rentwise you need to contact the local councils housing benefit section rather than the job centre

the job centre will backdate the money upto the date you first rang them

theyre busier than ever so be patient

the true scrubbers still get all these problems aswell

Apply for a crisis loan in the meantime. they are seperate claims and you should get something.

I had a complete nightmare last year with jobseekers. took me months to actually get money through from them.

Its been like that for a while now. The people who work will pay for those who cant be arsed. Labour believes that everyone in the country is equal and that we should all have the same regardless of the level of intelligence we possess and the work ethic we possess. We have a country that punishes you more and more the harder you work and the more money you earn. Thats why we have a bit of a problem with professionals leaving the country. Eventually the government will have to sort this out otherwise we will end up with a country that is unable to function because of the lack of people paying taxes.
