Joe Rogan and Spotify

Now there is a man who does have the intellect to not only keep up with guest but challenge them. Joe Rogan is like the guy down the pub who can chat for hours ot anyone and can make you laugh. Lex Friedman interviews you feel like you actually learn something. Sam Harris does great interviews as well.
I watch/listen to all of them when I can, but they're very different styles, so not fair to compare.

Lex sounds like he's a bit slow, but has a brilliant mind. Such a good bloke too.

Basically its implied that it’s Rogan for dummies, Sam and Lex for the more intelligent of folk.

I've never heard it put like that. Rogan has a special interviewing skill. I've heard plenty of academics complement him on that. He isn't an idiot, but he's also never claimed to be anything near intellectual either.

With such a varied amount of guests he has on, he can't be an expert in every subject. They usually try and fact check things on the fly if they're not sure about something.

I think it's a bit unfair the amount of flak he's getting over this.

Nah I work for a living.... I advise that Vine chap on radio 2 for you if look like that sort of thing.

Don't get me started on Vine. I was shouting at my radio when he was talking about loud motorbikes the other week.

He's been playing a lot of Neil Young lately too. Odd that.

Absolutely I agree with pretty much everything you say. I was just making jest at a couple of posts.

It seems to be a thing to attack and discredit any kind of popular alternative viewpoint. Like Neil Youngs decision to leave Spotify is in anyway significant, who cares his music is on YouTube anyway, for free.

The mainstream media is absolutely unscrupulous in its methods, you only have to hear Dave Chapell talk about what happened after he turned down $50 million to do the Chappell show, because he insisted on creative control and principle over money.

People are criticising, rightly, the misinformation. Nothing to do with "alternative views". Also "alternative views" is a synonym for utter ********.

The whole Young, Hipngosis, Blackstone thing isn't getting much attention.

I wonder how Joni feels about Neils song being owned by such a company.

Jeez - who is Jimmy Dore sounds like another objective journalist on youtube.

listening to music on youtube too - it's free for a (128kb/s) reason.

He recently had a doctor on (can't remember her name) and he was talking about the vaccines causing myocarditis in young people. She pointed out that you are 8 times more likely to get myocarditis from covid than you are from the vaccine if you are young. He wouldn't have it, his researcher found some papers on it that showed the doctor was correct, he still wasn't happy and said that wasn't what he had read. He has an agenda and when someone goes against it he doesn't like it, when someone goes with it he never challenges them.
well known issue - double-bluff by him - when you hear information that confounds you go and read the facts yourself, like we did when this was discussed on OC covid thread, no black and white answer https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/posts/35207080 etc.

Yeah, I listen to Sam now and then also, but Lex is my favourite by far.

What misinformation and how many of you guys would have even known about it had Neil Young not have launched his media backed assault?

Covid misinformation. Grow up your all double vaccinated right and boosted to the hilt? So who cares what a couple of Americans said on another Americans pod cast. Get a grip people.

If you don’t agree with someone’s views or his style of interviewing then don’t listen. It’s not like he’s actually supposedly running a country and telling you guys to do one thing, while him and his cronies are doing the opposite, is it? The ones who lie and misdirect on a regular basis are the ones who actually have the ability to do real harm. Not Rogan or his guests.

Not following it can’t be hard to lay out the specifics, surely.

My point is that the specifics are not important, i do not need any information about covid, to come to a conclusion.

Or many other topics for that matter, but seeing about how this is covid related.

I never watched or listened to any joe rogan podcast.

I mean, on first glance, you would seem to need protection from misinformation.
"Media backed assault" aka reporting the news.
"Woke cancel culture" aka not wanting lies spread.

Get a grip indeed. :)

Will only watch Rogan now if it's someone super interesting like Musk.

On the subject of podcasts, I'd recommend "Diary of a CEO" by Steven Bartlett, in particular the episode with Jimmy Carr. Found myself absolutely gripped by it.

We all do it’s the biggest threat humanity faces. Yes being flippant but the American Media seem to have a bit of a agenda against Joe at the moment. Maybe because they are losing their audience at an increasing rate to people like Joe, with trust being at an all time low.

Has anybody in this whole thread actually requested or supported Joe Rogan being cancelled? I don't think they have.
Hope not. That would be a bizarre thing to do imo. As it is I think he will have got a lot of feedback and will improve how he deals with topics like this.

I only ever watched when it was interesting guests and will continue to do so. Usually only a handful of episodes a year anyway.

Will check out the episode you mentioned, thanks :)

trump was removed from twitter, also, female senator, for anti-vax rhetoric there is no specific persecution of Joe, eaction is only in proportion to perceived threat from number of people who hang on his every word.
