John Terry Racism Trial

Anton supposedly was offensive to John Terry, bringing up something that he knew would get to JT. John Terry did just the same back. Anton is black and may well be a **** (don't know him to judge). If someone called me white boy would i pull the racism card? No.

JT's judgement was poor, what he said did not make him a racist.

Yes, it makes him racist.

Does raping someone make you a rapist?

What?! :/

I can't believe some of you guys condoning it!

Doesn't matter if it was a argument or not. When you're racist, that makes you a racist.

If someone kills someone in anger, people don't just brush it off as just a heated argument. If you're a murderer, you're a murderer :p

Honestly can't believe people are willing to condone what he did, but this is the internet / Overclockers.

It baffles me how in this day and age people can't differentiate between being a racist and simply making a racially offensive comment, how on earth can someone who is loved by the Chelsea dressing room be a racist when half of the players there are black themselves?

Like Morba said earlier in sports players will say whatever it takes to rile the opposition the most (ie. sledging in cricket), most people would not stoop that low but obviously JT is not that high on moral values, it doesn't make him a racist though.

Do you know exactly what he said?

Even if Anton said something to get him aggravated, a racist response is not welcome or necessary. To be honest, even if Anton was racist to Terry, he should not have responded. In my opinion, there is nothing that Anton could say or do that could warrant a racist response.

That doesn't matter! That's like calling someone a racist remark and saying "it's cool, I have a best friend who's black". It's not cool at all!

Hilarious.

Does he have to have the white suit and hood?

Even more hilarious is the old 'I'm not racist, I have black friends' hahaha.

Lol @ the plonkers going overboard with the "murdering someon makes you a murderer" or "rapiing someone makes you a rapist"

Hardly the same is it?
Calling names is what it boils down to....boo hoo someone got his feelings hurt by being called a name he didn't like. Grow a backbone!!!

I don't condone it btw, i just don't see the need to over-egg it.
Racism is not welcome, i agree and maybe they should make an example, if that is indeed what their aim is.
But a racist remark coming out of a heated exchange of words? Get some perspective.
And a racist remark DOES NOT necessarily make someone racist.
If you tell a racist joke does it really make you racist? Or if you hear a racist joke and laugh, does that make you racist?

This debate has been done to death......it'll never be settled.

Yes you are condoning it.

You're making excuses saying that people shouldn't be offended by being called a racist name, and then saying that racism isn't welcome?

Yes, making racist comments make you a racist.

It's easy to settle, racist people make racist remarks.

I couldn't care if he did make a racist comment tbh. It's like most things, you say what will hurt the most to get the best reaction.

I'm with this im afraid, if you play football you'll know how it works wind them up in hope they make the mistake or react.

This day and age i still say being called a black **** is about the same as being called a ****head. It means no more no less than a name which wants a reaction.

I wonder how many times O'shay was told he better not feel my bum during a corner.

Yeah, when I play football and the people I play with, we don't make racist comments or homophobic comments nor do the people we play against

Awww bless.

I'm not making excuses at all. Heard of the old saying "sticks and stones may break my bones, but calling names won't hurt me?"
I'd like to know if this fella made the complaint himself or if someone else was offended on his behalf?

In this day and age where everything in life 'seems' a little harder; getting/maintaining a job, keepiing up mortgage repayments, staying healthy, keeping your kids out of trouble.
Should we really be making huge waves over a bit of name-calling?
I've had heated exchanges of words with people during sporting games, i've been called all sorts, some pretty personal, as i guess a lot of people have, but i can still laugh it off afterwards. It won't damage me in any way.

All you've done is make excuses so far :)

I think it's disgusting.

Yes, you've said.
Racism is bad mmkay?!
Yes i agree with that.
If JT has a history of making racists comments, then i think it's fair to deem him a racist and he should be dealt with accordingly, considering his role-model type status to some people.
But one guy uttering a racist comment in reply to a black guy making an equally personal comment about his fidelity, is pretty much ***-for-tat. They both aimed to insult. It really does not make him inherently racist.
If you truly believe it does, then i think you've led a very sheltered lifestyle.

So if it's ok to racially abuse someone on the football pitch, why isn't it ok off the pitch? Or is that ok as well?

And it's very different mocking someone for their race, which they didn't choose, to mocking them for not keeping their **** to themselves, which they can very much choose over.

Racism does not equal a bit of name calling.

You're just happy to condone it ;)

No, not a sheltered life, I just don't believe making racist comments should be excused or condoned, nor do I see them as 'just' insults.

Anyway, back to the topic on hand, Ferdinand did not make a Police complaint; 'because the pitch is where we work, it should be dealt with by the FA'

Quick break now Ferdinand has given his evidence.
