This thread is full of lol. JT if he said it, is racist, luls at the retarded comments about not being racist. Haha overclockers reaches new levels

Both a pair of idiots. What is more concerning is that all the other language is overlooked until one word is added in. Should throw the book at the lot of them and mic the ref like they do in rugby.

Below refers to Tummy's deleted post.

Black people call black people the 'n' word , can't be that offensive or they wouldn't be singing about it on TV either. Personally it isn't something i have/would say.
Why isn't it as bad as someone being called short or bald? If calling someone a black **** is abuse then calling someone a bald **** is just as bad. The person is bald most likely due to genetics just as a black person is black due to genetics.

+1 on the mic idea, not sure why they don't have it, would help manage the abuse the refs receive.

well this is going off topic now and in an utterly ridiculous way

Yes. This i agree with. But it seems to me that player 1 (regardless of colour) could swear and spout all sorts of obscenities at player 2. Player 2 (regardless of colour) could utter one word (that's classed as racist) and all hell breaks loose.

If ferdinand called JT a 'cracker' would the same hell have broken loose? It's a racist slur after all.

I don't think being racist is any worse than being discriminatory against any other attribute (whether gender, age, height etc) As Vonhelmet says though at the current time one is much worse in society. Logically they're no different.

What is socially acceptable isn't always bound by strict logic. Good luck changing that.

I don't need to change society to apply that logic to this situation myself, neither does any individual here, those who are point blank acting like racism is worse than any other name calling(which happens all the time on the football pitch) are the worse offenders in this thread.

Lets say Ferdinand starts it off by calling Terry a white trash gypo trannie ******. So Terry calls him the black equivalent of what Ferdinand says... half the people in this thread automatically think Terry is both racist and worse because the general position taken by The Sun and DailyMail readers is that racism of any kind against a minority is uber bad.

I hate yellow, black, brown and white people, NONE of this is true, but I typed it, so I'm automatically a racist? Here's a hint to the hyperbolic, over reacting factual incorrect, logically challenged people..... you can say things you don't mean.

Gravity on earth is 300ms^-2 at sea level on earth..... saying it(well typing it) doesn't make it true.

I hate hot women with awesome boobs.... not true. Saying something in no way automatically qualifys you as anything, suggesting so is being intentionally obtuse as so many people are in internet arguments, or just people being unable to engage their brains.

Anyone on earth can say whatever they like and mean it or not and no one can automatically decide they are one thing or another. To date I've frequently said I don't like Terry, his continuing actions in life suggest to me the general attitude that, he's got a bit of a scummy family and in laws(not particularly his fault) banging one of his best mates ex's who has his kid, while married, makes him a bit of a ****. On the pitch he's a loud mouthed git, so are most footballers, I have no problem there, he's an excellent CB even if people like to pretend he's not because they don't like him.

He's spent 15 years playing football where I've not seen him accused of racism before, he has played with and against hundreds of black players and I've never seen him be labled a racist, nor show any sign of it against team mates. I have little to no reason to think he's racist, I have little to no reason to think Suarez is racist, I have a very good reason for thinking Suarez SAID SOMETHING racist, which is against the rules of the game he chooses to play and agreed to play by the rules in, I've said I disagree with the rule fundamentally that arbitrarily decides its okay to ridicule scottish, ginger, short, tall, fat, slow, white, balding, gay, german players, but not black players(all or nothing with equal standing).

Also yes, it sounds cliche'd for sure but, honestly, how many real racists have loads of black friends? You know why people trot out that argument so often, its because its basically unbeatable. If you hate black people, why would you have black friends? How many ex chelsea players all piped up in the media about how they couldn't stand Terry and how they always thought he was racist while they were at Chelsea? I simply don't see it. If they can prove with footage what was said on the pitch he should get the same ban Suarez got for breaking a particular rule he agreed to play by.

No it's not hilarious. What is hilarious is the people that believe that somebody that may have used a racially offensive term in the heat of the moment is automatically a racist.

Of course he is  I've been in the heat of the moment and never made a racial insult. The fact that he went there shows he's a racist. (if it's true of course)

Ignore the racism aspect, you've never said something you don't mean? I have and if I'm being honest I've probably muttered racist/xenophobic/sexist comment under my breath before (and i bet most people on here have, whether they would admit to it or not) too but I certainly don't consider myself racist/xenophobic/sexist.

Take the Suarez case as another example, not only did Evra claim that he didn't believe Suarez was racist, the panel also found that he wasn't despite them believing that he made racially offensive remarks to Evra.

Not really no. I've said things I've instantly regretted but that's through social implications rather than me not believing in what I said. In the heat of the moment you might say something you regret but it's still something you said, and that he went to a racial comment speaks volumes about his character (Just as anyone who went to a sexist comment or any other attribute)

I do know what you mean - But I don't seem to remember any Ginger slaves? Or fat ones? Old ones? Tall ones? Not remembering any of these. Also, can't imagine there is anyone been banned from a bus or Cafe for any of those.

Racism is worse because of the years and years of discrimination people used to go through. Racism will always be worse, because of what our ancestors did.
