I didn't think he was married to Colleen at the time, it's a technicality but maybe that was the point?

I can't say I'm totally surprised that Mr Terry has been cheating on his wife, for some reason he's always come across as a thoroughly unpleasant character. That's got nothing to do with his footballing abilities, he is a good defender, maybe even a great one but as a person he just doesn't appeal at all.

You're more then welcome to you opinions :) as am I.

Mine are that Cavahlo (spelling) is Chelsea's best defender and that Rio is Englands best defender, followed by King but he's a cripple.

I'm not doubting Terrys ability to be able to lead a team on the pitch, but that isn't enough when you're the captain of your national side imo. You need to be a role model on and off the pitch.

Terry certainly isn't off the pitch and on the pitch he seems to get away with far more then most because of his status as England captain.

I think he's over rated, I think he shouldn't be Englands captain. England don't have any stand out captains though imo.

Terry is over rated, this doesn't make him a bad player just not as good as Sky / English media make him out to be.

Do you not think that footballers should be role models?
 
I don't see what his personal life has anything to do with his football. On the pitch you couldn't tell he'd done any of this and that's how it should remain, just because you're the captain does not make you the countries role model.

He is England's best leader as the other main hopefuls said last time the Captaincy was touted as up for grabs.
Those hopefuls were Gerrard & Ferdinand both of whom are **** role models too.
There is still no better candidate for the Captaincy of club & country.
Who really cares if he's had a bit of fun off the pitch, he never lets down on it.

sorry there is a lot wrong with getting back handers for doing secret tours around the clubs facilities - and trying to get personal sponsorships the way he did recently

That , to me, shows irresponsibility of the highest order (and cheapening of the English Team) and deserves losing the captaincy over

and if the thread title was the only thing - then fair enough these things happen, but as a 3rd thing it should be "straw that broke the camel's back" imo
 
Any inside news on whether he's still expected to play this weekend, or will he be dropped for personal reasons?

Thats because for Leeds fans this is the sort of behaviour you dream about from your players ;)

A Leeds player would sleep with bridges mrs then beat them both up. :p
 
My view is that he should stay as Chelsea and England captain. There is nobody else better suited for the job and that's coming from a Man Utd fan. He has to lead us into the world cup as captain.

Yes he is married and cheated but this happens all the time in the 'real' world. The same can be said for Bridge's over half. Takes two and all that. All the blame can't be thrown at Terry. She did afterall cheat on Bridge with another Premiership footballer. It's not the first time and wouldn't be the last.

Regards the allegations that he took money for a tour around the training facilities. Again, if its true, its not a major shock. I guess when footballers are earning a shed load of cash, they're going to attract attention from the wrong people.

Anyway, from a Google search of Toni Poole, I guess Terry could do a lot better. He needs to head over to Italy :D

I doubt there is a top footballer than doesn't cheat.

Bridge's wife looks heavily pregnant in that pic... is that an old pic or could there be more trouble ahead? :p
 
TBH it's nothing more than typical gutter-press reporting.

News of the World legal manager Tom Crone welcomed the decision as "a long overdue breath of fresh air and common sense".

"Over recent years, there has been more prior restraint on freedom of speech in Britain than in any other democratic country in the world," he said.

"Gagging orders like the one sought by John Terry have been granted to numerous other Premier League footballers and assorted celebrities."

What a jumped-up &^%$ - to think that he honestly believes that the ability of his toilet-rag newspaper to report on malicious gossip is in any way linked to genuine concerns about free speech.

If anything, the tabloid 'exclusives' about the private lives of 'celebrities' have done more to harm freedom of speech and responsible reporting - the Courts wouldn't be so disgusted with the media if it wasn't for the tabloid media's irresponsible behaviour.

Ferdinand as a role model > John Terry as a role model

Terry sinks to yet another low cheating on a fellow England teammate and one of his best friends. If the England players have lost respect for him over this and I'm sure some will, then he isn't the best captain for England to have going into a world cup. The captaincy isn't about having the best squeaky clean image, it's about commanding respect from the players around him. If/when that alters someone else needs appointed.
